^ I absolutely loved that on the old Invision forums. Good feature to have for archives and shit. Also when toplists were a thing.
Been playing around with this a bit over the past few months and I think I've decided if I ever host again, it's going to be through NDIM. |
Paul and I have actually been talking about how we can start setting up redirection links or something on here for hosts. People on here who host a regular series can have a space that explains their series and directs people to it. Or maybe a scrolling affiliate bar too like we used to have, with clickable logos from each series scrolling by. Could be pretty cool if done right. We're probably gonna start talking about that idea and fleshing it out soonish though

I did an "Our Friends" section on one of the many failed "home base" boards I set up with links to SBB, Deja, Recycled and a few other regulars' series. |

That's the kind of thing we have in mind. Something for regular users to promote their series' with references to past games and a spot to post up information about upcoming games and so forth. I've seen it done a few times before and I think it's quite nice having an easy reference point.
I spend a bit of time hopping around completed games and sometimes it can be quite difficult to navigate to them all and keep the links straight.

Ah, very cool. I think if the actual people being promoted help out, it would work perfectly.
Also another similar idea, featured players for the various FE-related games would be neat along with that. Although it would be incredibly overwhelming considering the amount of regulars. Can't really talk on this cause I still have people yelling at me that I never finished mine. But it's something like this: http://urtvhome.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=profiles .
If the actual players help out with their own stats, quotes and profiles it could get shit done. I tried to get people to help out with these but people just wanted to see what I'd say more than actually help which is kind of why I stopped doing it. Twas meant to be interactive. |

Is there a way to make boards invisible to regular members, yet, they can still access the board if they have the link?

Not yet. But it has been on my to do list for a while. I haven't bumped it up because you're the first person to actually request it. I will do now because it's a fairly easy thing to code in.

I can't see videos that are posted here anymore when on my ipad. This is probably a side effect of the recent (regretted) upgrade from apple but just thought I would mention it. | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

Currently working on a huge update with quite a few new features and fixes. Including:
- Guest posting
- Advanced search feature
- New default skin and smilies (courtesy of Curtis)
- An NDim forum directory on the site homepage
- Additional BBCode
- More skin builder sections and more options for existing sections
- Plenty of bug fixes
- General speed/performance boosts
And tons of other stuff. I'll post a full list of the updates once it's released. I'm doing this one in bulk instead of pushing them out one at a time because there are some pretty substantial underlying changes here.

I honestly hadn't planned for that. Searching is a pretty CPU intensive process and by limiting the word length, it can help the process along quite a bit.
What might be feasible is to have three letter words allowable amongst the other words you search for. You can also do a search for a full string already, surrounded by inverted commas.
The advanced feature is to allow you to hone in on date ranges, forum sections and other useful stuff.
