Cereal isn't boiled to pull the essence and oils out to make a liquid- the base liquid in breakfast cereal is milk. The base liquid in most soups is a stock or broth, which is typically made by boiling something to pull the goodness out.

Interestingly, this gentleman says gazpacho is a liquid salad or a soup-salad.

Nah- I went with every soup I make, which always starts with a stock or a broth, whether I'm making tomato soup or chicken noodle or pho or New England Clam Chowder or lobster bisque. The base element is something that is a liquid that required boiling the goodies out of something else.

Granted, I don't eat gazpacho because that's a mess of vegetables and I hate most of the shit going in there anyways. :P

First five google recipes all used chicken stock.

I would have to check my own potato soup recipe but I'm pretty sure I'm boiling potatoes in at least a stock of something. Same with my smoked gouda soup.

And as dude pointed out, gazpacho is not a proper soup anyway, but a "liquid salad". Which is why I don't eat it- salads are nasty.
