Oh yea, I've been playing the game for a few days and I really like it. I didn't play much of 3 because of the hype of 4, but I have no major complaints over the game so far.
I don't mind the dialogue options too too much. It can annoy me a bit, but the rest of the game makes up for it.

Also yes, the dialogue wheel sucks. I'm not THAT bothered by it, but I wish we had more options and dialogue trees like previous games. Conversations seem way too short and I haven't had time to really "meet" any characters. Previous games you'd get a backstory on just about everyone from Sunny Smiles to Old Lady Gibson. It's very annoying that I don't know a single thing about anyone in Sanctuary outside of Preston. Then again, as I already mentioned, a mass majority of the characters I've met thus far have been "Settler". |
agreed, reminds me of the newer Telltale games where they stripped away half the conversing for whatever reason. Companions seem to be the only people you can really get into 'deep' discussions with, but that's only when certain events get triggered after they grow to like you enough

I finished main quest with the Railroad the other day. Good game and I enjoyed it. Not sure if it has any replay value for me. |

I finally played around in Goodneighbor for real for the first time last night. Most of my visits there before were drop in for MQ then leave. Enjoy the ambiance of the town for a few minutes, sell off a few things, then go. I decided to get into the quests there, though, and grabbed the two companions there. The Silver Shroud quest is great. Way more involved than I expected it to be and very fun! It's the one major place where the dialogue system shines imo. My character seemed to be having so much FUN doing it. It was nice having the character show some personality/emotions besides dull surprise and where is my son.

I had to reload about 20 times before I managed to save Kent. |
Hoping to do whatever is at Bunker Hill soon (I've only been there briefly once before) and the area around there. There's still so many areas I haven't been/haven't dived into that heavily, and I've put in a lot of hours (mostly building Sanctuary and Red Rocket up then deciding to dismantle and rebuild them entirely). I've still never been to Covenant even though I've cleared places around there before. Haven't been in the North East corner at all either.
Also re: Generic settlers: Even though it's silly they don't have names, and the ones that fill half your settlements are boring and mostly interchangeable, I like what they do with it in some cases. I stumbled on at least one random encounter where the settlers had a lot of dialogue with each other and actually used each other's names, but since you couldn't actually interact with them in any meaningful way the game still called them all Settler. There's also a significant character I noticed in Goodneighbor last night who is labelled "Drifter" like every other nameless NPC there.

It's actually Deacon spying on you. |

It can be a long freakin' game, so I agree about the replay value, but you can continue to roam the Wasteland after the main quest and contribute to the settlements, rescue kidnapped settlers, take out packs of feral ghouls or green skins or raiders threatening those settlements. I guess there's different endings depending on which faction you end up siding with. It will be a while before I go through the whole game again. I just got my life back. haha

How do you start the Silver Shroud quest? I went into the Hubris Comics store a long time ago and found the scripts and stuff but there was never an actual quest started for me

I actually did two of my favorite quests yet yesterday. Anyone done the USS Constitution and/or the Cabot family quests?
|
This was the best wacky Fallout quest yet, a lot of the others have been a bit more serious. Seeing that ship fly off into the sunset was MAGICAL
And that line from Ironsides after it crashes into the skyscraper was priceless |
|
This was so much fun, probably my favorite quest yet. I just couldn't resist letting Lorenzo free (: Though after he told me was gonna kill the whole family I changed my mind and was gonna help defend them because I liked all of them, but by then it was too late I guess. The family started shooting at me as soon as Lorenzo began his spree back at the house
I FEEL BAD! Lorenzo's a pretty great character tho. I wish I could take him as a companion |

This is good to know. I was pissed off about this in New Vegas when I beat the main quest and the game just ended, especially since I had last saved in the middle of that mission so couldn't even go back to earlier saves. |

In a room off to the side when you enter, there'll be a ghoul named Kent. Talk to him.

If anyone hasn't done it yet, or is doing it, look behind the stage for the toy gun. If you bring it to Kent, you can get a decent SMG |
