on paper she totally was. but i think as played (until the godawful moment when Kili saw her haloed with light) she managed to be a somewhat independent character who was given somewhat interesting motivations, even if they all played second fiddle to her love triangle.

was it quiet for anyone else? it may have just been my shitty theater or me but i could barely make out most of the dialogue. it was especially bad for smaug.

Nah not at all. It was PRETTY LOUD in fact. Imax always blasts you with noise tho

did anyone get any promotional material or special movie specific glasses? My theatre never gets the cool glasses but the first movie gave me 4 prints and I got jack shit from this one.

Yeah I got the 'special' glasses. Though I lost them because they fell out of my pocket and into the snow sometime after the movie whoops

I mean it's not a huge loss the glasses weren't as cool as the Key ones from the first movie... but they are way better than the standard shitty yellow ones my theatre uses.

We had them but I got the last pair of non-Hobbit glasses! Of course!

But I dont really care. I got them last year too (same IMAX theater) and I've kept them this whole time and I dunno why! Just a waste of space..

I'm gonna see Desolation of Smaug tonight! Can't wait.

That was a major improvement on the first movie. In fact I think if the trilogy ends well then I can accept the first movie a bit more as a whole. Will give in-depth review later on when I have more time.

Finally went to see Desolation of Smaug last night. I thought the first one was much better. More thoughts tomorrow.

Yeah I kinda feel the same way. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy it, I just liked the first one better. Definitely can't wait for the third installment.
