So over the weekend I received a claim from Ballad Health in the amount of ~220,000 dollars that apparently my dad's insurance decided to not cover from his hospital stay. Not really sure what that's all about. But the claim was filed after the deadline for people to file claims against my dad's estate so the lawyer is filing for an exception on that claim. They're fucking crazy asking for that much goddamn money.
NGL I flipped my shit when I opened the packet up. Well, it was delayed. There was a 30k claim I was praying wouldn't show up - so when I opened the packet and saw the claimant wasn't the one I was dreading I just sat it aside and was blissfully unaware that the one I just opened was for damn near ten times as much.
Just got out of meeting with lawyer. He said he's confident that he can get the 220k claim dismissed because of the late filing.
He also said that it's worth filing exceptions for every debt just to see what happens. So he's doing that too. And if the people don't send a rep for a trial they will get dismissed. Then I can keep what's in his bank account and get about 100k from that other house.
