The last few days I've watched Guardians of the Galaxy twice. It gets better every time. Also, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and A Christmas Story. Classics, and it's been a while since I sat down and watched them, so it was fun.

The Innkeepers
It was alright. It had good atmosphere and I liked the build with all of the ghost hunting stuff and all but I spent the whole time feeling like it needed more of... something. And the way the girl just goes full retard at the end was a little annoying.
|
She was so scared she was about to hyperventilate and over the course of maybe ten seconds, suddenly she's eager to go check out the basement. To find one of the two people that she knows were upstairs. And she was explicitly told to not go into the basement. I'm glad it ended with the dummy's death if nothing else. |
But I guess it wouldn't be a horror movie without bad decisions.

Jeepers Creepers
A guilty pleasure that I hadn't watched in a while. No matter how much I might like it, I still find it extremely difficult to look past them shoehorning that dumb song into the mythos of the monster.

Wolf Creek 2
I thought the first one fell somewhere between p. decent and p. good. This one... I dunno. I fell asleep towards the end of it for about ten or twenty minutes. Some of the early scenes were good (the very first scene with the cops) but as it went I lost interest.

I was wanting to watch the second one right after the first, but the streaming site I watched the first one on wanted me to install some shady bullshit to watch the second one so I noped out. I don't remember much about it other than a school bus.
In 1 I love the whole "beating you" "be eating you" license plate gag. Cocky monster fuck.

My dad likes to pretend every car ahead of us has a "beating you" license plate. He's been doing this for like 8 years

Tusk
...
Probably the best movie to watch on Christmas morning. Calling it weird would be the understatement of the century. I don't even really know what to say about it, or if anything even needs to be said about it. It speaks for itself, much like the noble walrus.

Did you catch Johnny Depp as Guy LaPoint? He was almost unrecognizable

If I hadn't known going in that him and his daughter were in it, I can't say that I'd have been able to tell it was him. I guess I do have three things to say about the movie -
1) The walrus suit was maybe the creepiest prosthetic monster suit thing I've ever seen. It made me feel uncomfortable when he was finally unveiled. I wasn't expecting it to look like that at all.
2) I feel like the movie Kevin Smith is making out of the gas station girls (his daughter and Depp's daughter) is going to be horrible.
3) Teddy dropped the ball at the end - Wallace the Walrus would have been 100x the attraction for the podcast that Kill Bill Kid was going to be.
