My specialty (or what was my specialty) has zero bearing on the oil/gas/mineral industry, unfortunately. And when I started, that was done on purpose, as I had no interest in working for 'Big Oil'.

Not really. I love me some earthquakes, but seismology was not my tool of choice. I studied tectonic plate motions with high-precision GPS data.

Surprisingly enough, I just saw a posting for a similar position 'out west' not far from where I have family. Maybe I'll finally have a reason to get out of the South.

I feel this fits more in Boolshit than in the Depressing News Thread, so ... On the same day that I was killed/eliminated from both active games here on FE, I found out my teaching position might be eliminated for next year. Guess it's time to dust off the ol' resume, and see what I've forgotten to record over the last 4 years.

I'm kind of in a similar boat. Our store manager got fired and we're overstaffed on assistants so there are a lot of rumors swirling around that a few of our heads are getting put on pikes to make an example of the market as our store is absolutely terrible in everything at the moment.

I've only ever worked for Walmart and didn't get my edumacations after high school so it's a very scary thought.
