should Edelman be in by that logic?

Both above-average but not great players who happened to shine in some big games while mostly being carried by great teams up to those points

No, because he isn't a white QB.

He’s only won 1 SB MVP.

You can make a reasonable argument that anybody can win it once.

I don’t get a vote obviously, but IMO winning it twice should get you in when you’ve had a pretty decent career.

If Eli's last name wasn't Manning, he never gets the chance to be in those super bowls. He'd have been relegated to backup duty way before then.

'Most playoff _____' stats are entirely a function of team success. Of all the WRs that have played in the postseason, I'm not sure I'd even put Edelman in the top 20 as far as impact goes.

to be clear I'm not actually making an argument for Edelman being in (: But I do think the case for Eli is awfully similar to someone like Edelman, two good-not-great players that were just along for the ride til they had the chance to shine in some big moments

Havo's just all about Manning, because he's a "good southern boy". If Manning was from California, Havo would have disowned him 20 years ago.

What part of “I’m not an Eli fan by no means” don’t you understand?

You are the one saying he's a HOFer.

I could not care less if Eli gets in the HOF.

But comparing him to other QBs who ARE IN the HOF.

Comp Pct - 58.4 / Yards - 49,325 / TDs - 291 / Ints - 233
Never played in a SB. 1st Ballot HOFer
Spoiler+

Comp Pct - 50 / Yards - 27,663 / TDs - 173 / Ints - 220
1 time SB MVP
Spoiler+

Comp Pct - 61.5 / Yards - 32,942 / TDs - 165 / Ints - 141
1 time SB MVP
Spoiler+

Eli Manning
Comp Pct - 60.3 / Yards - 56,537 / TDs - 362 / Ints - 241
2 time SB MVP.

If those guys deserve it ............

Comparing players from different eras is pretty useless. Tom Brady Eli KNOWS he’s not getting hit hard, ever, and that’s a huge mental advantage over what QBs in the past eras have had. No worries about happy feet when the QB knows they can’t hit him hard. A lot less mistakes are made when the QB isn’t scared for his life. His heads not on a swivel and that 3 second clock in his head isn’t near as loud.

Imagine thinking what anyone other than the actual voters for the HOF think means a damn when it comes to the HOF.

I don’t get all the Eli hate. But I really don’t care either.

I wouldn’t want him as the QB for my team.
