Yup

She just finished her junior year in HS, and took it at a Tech School. Next year, she gets her CNA and EMT certifications. She can qualify to be an adult student, and get grant money to finish up her RN cert the year after.

I'm a believer in learning a trade in HS over the electives they force them to take to meet a credit requirement for a diploma.

That's my 19-year old! Although she said she's changing her major, realized she didn't like the classroom, she's doing something more nature/conservationist?

I looked into that coming out of HS. The pay was so low back then, though.

I don't imagine it's much better. She seems determined to do something that 1) involves science 2) pays poorly

My third girl is talking about early childhood care. They also offer that at the Tech School. I can't imagine doing that, but she has the patience of Job. Regardless she can find out for free if it's something she'd rather not do.

My Daughter changes her school goals, majors, minors, areas of emphasis weekly it seems like. She knows what she wants to do, just isn't sure what side of it to approach from yet.

And it's not easy getting into those jobs, unless you are former military. My wife has been trying to get into the park service for 6 or 7 years now. She's been doing seasonal jobs for a while now, but can't ever get ahead of the people with 'status' in the application process, despite having basically done the job already.
