Why does every settler in the Commonwealth want to live at Tarrington Boathouse? I stumbled on that place and decided it was the perfect place to purify water for profit. Put down a bed and set up a recruitment beacon just to grab a provisioner and someone to tend crops/make sure the water got moved to the workbench.

The next time I went there there were 7 people fighting over 2 beds. I sent most away, added a trading post and an extra bed to get some caps out of the place and destroyed the beacon. Now it's back to 7 again. I'm gonna send these ones to my worst settlements. Let them earn their places in my glorious society instead of hogging all of my clean water.

If they don't stop coming I'm going to make them sleep on mattresses in the road

lol the Taffington Boathouse is actually where I've been sending all my former companions. They're all crammed in that little house together

I figured it out. I had a Preston quest to talk to some farmer. I phoned it in and just uh huh'd him and kept selecting the usual "nice response" slot, and then the quest ended there and I got his Farm aligned with the Minutemen without having to fight anything. I guess his quest to go clear it out and set it up for his friends to move in and that was already done. So his friends moved in and I immediately sent them away forever.

Also anyone else get Spectacle Island? It's really cool and has a lot of potential but I dunno if I should send settlers and provisioners there (:

I decided to just nope the hell out of the minutemen quests after a certain point. Even when I've cleared certain buildings, settlers will ask me to go clear them again and OH LOOK now all the enemies are right back where they were. Makes me feel like an underappreciated maid.

I finished the main quest! I typed up a huge rant but it was too long and wasn't even done so I'll just say that I need mods very badly if I'm ever going to play that particular ending again. Unless there was a specific option I missed. My ending of choice was grate and all but the AI during the final quest... Never again. Never. Ever. Again.

I decided to play a new character for a bit. I made him a sarcastic asshole who does melee and chems and skips the entire minutemen part of the main quest if possible.

I stumbled on the Brotherhood what trying to rush my way in the general direction of Good Neighbor and decided to do those quests since I left Danse stranded at the police station my first game.

After accidentally trying to set him on fire I had the optional objective to see how he was doing after that. I tried to do it but it wouldn't work so I beat him with my shock baton a few times. When it still did not work I shrugged and continued on without him. It worked out and he woke back up and we did some more fighting and left the building.

Then Danse tried to talk to me. My character did not respond. He just stared at him. No dialogue options came up. He wouldn't say a word. He just stared as the game did is usual dialogue cam. Danse even started asking if I was ignoring him for a reason but I could not get my character to respond. I broke out of the combo and started walking around and Danse just stared at me like I was insane.

My character has become the mute Bethesda tried to save him from being.

Don't do chems.

for anyone playing on PC (I think just about all of us) I'd highly recommend this http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1235/?

I was gonna wait until a possible second runthrough to mod the game, but this is pretty much essential. The regular dialog interface is awful

In previous games you'd go on withdrawal if you didn't get your fix which gave you a heavy stat penalty. I don't know if it's still the same in 4.

So far I'm really enjoying this. There's a few gripes I have, but to be honest I wasn't expecting New Vegas 2 like many others probably were. It's different, they tried things which in my opinion don't work overly well but there are some cool ideas that perhaps could be expanded on if they do another game under the same engine.

The game is beautiful, which is something you don't often get with Bethesda. The characters and voice acting are already a huge step up from the usual norm where every guy was Gregory Alan Williams in the past. Soundtrack is, as always with Fallout, phenomenal. I love that they kept in some songs from the last two games mixed in with some new ones, it was a nice surprise.

My biggest gripe right now is with settlements. I think it's very, very cool that we can build our own community and recruit people to join. That's awesome. However so far... just about every town I've found is a potential settlement with generic settlers with nothing to really do or explore. Diamond City is alive and great with so many different things you can do, but it almost feels like everything is shoved in there to make up for the other settlements being barren. One of my favorite things to do in Fallout is wandering around to find towns with new characters, missions, things to explore and shops to trade with. None of them are present so far outside of Diamond City. Granted -- I'm still relatively early in the game so I could be completely wrong on this, but based off how the game is going right now, I can't help but feel this is the case.

Also yes, the dialogue wheel sucks. I'm not THAT bothered by it, but I wish we had more options and dialogue trees like previous games. Conversations seem way too short and I haven't had time to really "meet" any characters. Previous games you'd get a backstory on just about everyone from Sunny Smiles to Old Lady Gibson. It's very annoying that I don't know a single thing about anyone in Sanctuary outside of Preston. Then again, as I already mentioned, a mass majority of the characters I've met thus far have been "Settler".

I like to think Goodneighbor is a pretty decent town. It's not too far from Diamond City. It's not as big, but I liked exploring the little area.

Also, go to the Hotel Rexford and look around upstairs to find a special someone.
