One of the lieutenant guys was talking about Farrell's character and said "One of my guys has been shot" or something, didn't say killed. Made it seem like he survives. No idea how tho but I hope he does, that would be such a shame to kill him off now |
@Boc
I got the same vibes, but I thinkkkkk it was his stepmom? He called her ma' and she told him not to and said why start now or something

what! Did they really just kill off the most interesting character
Thought the ep was pretty good overall, about as good as last week's. Vaughn got some good scenes this week, the monologue felt a tad forced but I liked it anyway. And the Good Samaritan scene was funny
Did anyone else get major incest vibes from that motorcycle cop's visit to his mom's house? The way she kept touching him and complimenting his muscles/looks was creepy
Of course that fits with the Oedipus theme this season appears to have, so it probably was intentional. I'm just wondering if they were only vibes |

That whole scene reminded me of Jimmy Darmady's relationship with his mother. But then again, Jimmy was a woman slayer and Paul is definitely gay. I'm honestly gonna be kind of mad if Velcoro is alive. There could be rock salt in the shotgun, but to get shot in the stomach from less than a foot away is gonna be really damaging no matter what. |

This season hasn't really done much for me so far. It ain't bad, but it hasn't captured me the way season 1 did yet.

All of the Ani/Ray scenes this episode reminded me so much of LA Noire. Especially that chase at the end
Pretty dull episode overall though

Nothing they did this year was gonna top the ending of 1x04 (action-wise) but this wasn't too far off. INTENSE! Although it did feel a bit CONVENIENT to me that everyone but the big 3 characters died
It was an odd choice but I liked that freeze frame at the end |

I dunno, I thought these last two episodes were pretty solid. Definitely a step up from the first 3. Though I still feel pretty blase about the plot. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to care about at this point? Certainly not the Caspere mystery
|
Velcoro is singlehandedly keeping it interesting though. All of his scenes after he found out about his wife's rapist being captured were terrific. For the first time I'm really looking forward to the next episode, because I'm really curious to see how the Ray/Frank meeting shakes out |

I think they have like a mandatory "cheesy Frank line of the week" at this point. I think "Never do anything out of hunger, not even eating" still takes the cake though

Yeah I can't tell if it's intentional or not, but his lines are really awful. And I do at least agree about Velcoro. Dude's story is the shit.
But for the past several episodes, I have become puzzled about why Frank and Paul are part of the main cast. I feel like this season would be way better if it had just focused on Ani and Ray. Easily the two strongest characters. It's almost as if they figured there would be no topping Rust and Marty so they decided to avoid the duo setup and try something different. And different is fine if it works. But from the very start of this season it hasn't for me.
Can anybody give me a good reason why Paul is in the show? His story has existed on the periphery so far and he just feels tacked on.
And what about Frank? I get that he is linked to the case, but why is he a main character, instead of somebody that shows up now and again to further the mystery?
This is my theory...these four main characters are going to end up pitted against each other due to conflicting interests, all of which we can relate to, and we are going to be split between them. Given that the show has spent most of it's time humanizing them and giving them problems we can understand, I'm convinced that's what they are going for.
