I'm curious Zersch, what was the process behind picking the survivors? Because some of the survivors are ranked lower than those who died in the finale... was that for the sake of the story or was it just how you thought things would play out naturally?

I wasn't around to have any real input on how the simulation of the ending played out, but yes, the survivors were picked based on the state of everything within the Labyrinth at the time and from what I remember every part of the ending he wrote would work out if you recreated the moves on the last active map state. Perhaps some things were exaggerated for the sake of an interesting read, I don't honestly know.

The reason some of the people that survived are ranked lower than villains that died, as far as I look at it, the rankings take more into consideration than just last men standing. It becomes more of a ranking of participation, interaction, character, and how well they utilized what was given to them for the game. For two examples, I think we can all agree that Frederick did nothing on his own to ensure his survival at the end of the game other than draw a curious role. And Peter, while he was never officially inactive as far as I remember and played inoffensively enough, just wasn't as entertaining as others.
