I'm saying people are blowing this out of proportion and think I'm defending this guy, I'm not, just pitchforking this guy is not remotely close to what Spacey/Franken did. I already admitted not knowing much about the case. But if all he did was ask offer money in exchange for surrogacy that is not sexual in nature. Now if he was soliciting sex, that's a different story.

What if a guy couple approaches one of their neighbors and offers them cash in exchange for surrogacy, is your claim still valid here?

I mean sure it's kinda weird. I don't know his relationship with this chic. If they are workplace colleagues/friends/familiar with each other it becomes less weird. If he tries to use it as leverage to terminate her or in a way that could affect her job then it's clearly inappropriate.

Not exactly, because this isn't in the work place. It could still be completely inappropriate/uncomfortable depending on the circumstances and one's relationship with the neighbor (whether they know them really well or hardly at all), but I definitely think that the workplace setting changes the situation entirely. But like Jamie mentioned, there are agencies for surrogacy.

In the neighbor's case, the couple wouldn't be able to threaten her employment status.

if i was in a couple that needed a surrogate i would definitely not be going down my street knocking on my neighbour's door being like "oh hey love what you did with your flower bed, can I put my sperm in you?"

But it's someone's right to offer someone else whatever they want, maybe he thinks she has good genes, health, height, eye color, hair color, whatever. If there is evidence he tried to push the matter to threaten her employment status or try to push the matter constantly, then yes I agree that's harassment.

I mean no shit it's weird to ask someone that. If I was in the situation I wouldn't feel comfortable asking people I know either. I can kinda see the workplace argument, but in my opinion I need more context to figure out whether it was inappropriate. I only believe he should step down if it turned into harassment as I defined above. Otherwise it's just weird, but not as bad as it's shown to be. Compared to the guys that literally groped women/forced themselves on them, this situation is benign.

Again, it's not sexual unless he wanted to have sex with her. Using artificial fertilization (idk the term) would mean it is not remotely sexual.

I don't plan to read the article, but the infertile woman could ask someone instead of the husband chasing down some girl at work he wants to impregnate.

I'm also pretty sure that freezing eggs/creating life genetically is gonna get more and more common based on things you read/hear.
