So I got a phone call on the cell yesterday- it was a recording of a woman speaking in Mandarin. Since I can only swear in Mandarin, it wasn't useful to me, but decided to reverse look up the number.

It appears the number is for the Chinese Embassy, but that it is getting spoofed by scammers. The message says something to the effect of "Your papers are not in order and if we don't receive a prompt payment to address this you are going to get deported." This is a fucked up scam and, while many won't fall for it, I can see older Chinese immigrants freaking out and paying.

Our company sent out an email about that yesterday. They said do not answer ththe call

I'm going to make a huge post reflecting on the entire year and how horrible it started sometime this summer, but I'm currently going into these last 3 week as positively as I can.

We finish on June 8, but the last 5 days aren't really teaching days since I'm part of the 8th grade team, and here, finishing 8th grade is a big deal with a graduation and everything. So the entire week is devoted to some practices for graduation and a field trip. So really 9 more instructional days.

I'm also waiting to hear back from the school I student taught at last year to see if I was chosen for a math position there. I qualified for a transfer and they happened to have a spot open. I loved it there and it would be huge to be back there where there's a much better educational culture and to be with some of my close teacher friends

If i tell a friend that I am going to send him a bottle of alcohol for his birthday, and he responds

"Oh joy!"

Does that mean he doesn't really want it? Is that a sarcastic response? Should i be sending him something else?
