Shit is hitting very, very close to home right now and it's fucking scary. My county is deeply critical of the vaccine and very dubious of COVID in general. I've posted about this a few times in here in the peak of it when Walmart was forcing masks and everything.
Yet.... our county remained relatively unscathed. Some cases, a few deaths from some elderly people. But nobody I knew got killed from it.
This month? I lost a wonderful coworker who I admired and cared for deeply at the beginning of the month. Very shocking, happened out of nowhere. He was a guy who has been in the store or 25 years and everyone in town knew. It was a fucking shockwave. A few days ago, one of my associates' - who loved sharing COVID hoax memes and tells everyone he can't wait to quit when Walmart mandates vaccines - just had his mom pass from it. Again, very suddenly. And today I just learned a wonderful former coworker who still worked in the store as a vendor for Nabisco passed away this morning from it. Great guy but also loved talking about COVID being a left wing hoax.
Fuck man. Get vaccinated.

Even though they aren't open to everyone, quite a few things qualify for the booster. Medical conditions, certain jobs, BMI, nicotine use, etc.
