Too many positive reviews from you guys lately. I need to read about you guys watching shitty movies.

My roommates and I watched the Taking of Deborah Logan and it was lame.

The Guest

A guy shows up at a family's house telling them he was best friends and served with their son who died in Iraq. The tension starts building almost immediately and never really stops. He begins doing things to help out and protect the family and it just spirals from there.

Checked this out just because it was new. Wound up digging it in a big way. I loved the soundtrack too, it really added to the overall feel of the movie. It was very retro, synthy sounding and reminded me of the vibe that Drive's soundtrack gave off.

Just watched it, it was entertaining. Nothing genius or terribly new but it was well done and Dan Stevens was good in a humorous way in it. This is my favorite review of it:

Quote
The Guest is what might happen if John Carpenter made a Halloween movie in which Michael Myers takes off his mask and turns out to be a pretty cool guy.

Thanks for the link btw

Starry Eyes

New horror movie about the fucked up underbelly of the Hollywood movie industry involving bodily disfiguration, weird cults, and pervy old men. It starts out kind of slow and gets pretty disturbing during the last half hour or so. I thought it was decent enough.

As Above, So Below

Was creepy but I think they could have done a bit more with it or heightened the 2spook factor a bit more. Still, it was found footage style horror so of course I enjoyed it. I forget who it was that saw this a while back and called it Lab 2 the Movie, but that was definitely what I was thinking of through a large portion of it.

I don't understand people that like to go caving and exploring extensive claustrophobic areas

I hated that I was forced at gunpoint to watch it rather than watching it when I wanted. I had a similar experience with Collateral. Same friend, too. I haven't re-watched it since then so I dunno where I stand on it really.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

I was a big fan of Sin City back when it came out. This one... I dunno. It wasn't unwatchable but I just didn't think it was very good. It looked nice and Marv is still a bad ass, but that's about all the praise I can give it. It felt disjointed and forced. I liked seeing Christopher Meloni pop up in a role, but it felt like a lot of the actors were wasted because so many of the characters just seemed to not matter at all.

Zersch if you love found footage and don't mind foreign films check out Noroi: The Curse. It's fairly lengthy but really freaked me out.

I'll add it to ye olde hard drive and watch it sometime soon.

Maybe, if I can find a copy.
