This tax plan doesn't seem like a good idea if you want less income inequality.

I haven't looked into the tax plan whatsoever, but ran into a calculator and it told me I would pay $3,000 less in taxes next year so I'm not mad about that part of it.

And that's how people like Trump and McConnell and Cruz get elected, boys and girls.

I'm guessing the calculator was wrong.

Will I be paying more? Faaaack

Hopefully it goes towards bridge bonds - I'm real worked up about that these days.

Infrastructure is gonna be fucked. The tax bill already will add to the deficit, then the people getting the most benefit from it just speculate with the dollars (leading to very little actual business "investment" and instead just creating more volatile bubbles).

In a word- we're fucked.

Future generations. What little benefit middle income folks get sunsets in a few years, leading to higher taxes. Funny, but the provisions for the rich don't sunset. So we're adding a bunch to the deficit to give money to people who don't stimulate the economy and, if anything, can destabilize markets with a big infusion.

I think the calculator was right Vlady - at least for this next year. I don't make that much money lol

I agree with all of your analysis, though. They want to say it will stimulate the economy, but I am highly skeptical.

I'm not a smart man, but giving money to the middle-lower income class typically ends up with them spending it.

Isn't that how you stimulate the economy?

Yep- and you can do this in ways that ensures they get the cash instead of it hitting the top levels. But instead we provide incentives that help the top levels while not being an advantage to the lower levels. The mortgage interest deduction, for example, which encourages you to have a more expensive home and even then, if you top tax bracket is 10%, you are only getting 10 cents on the dollar versus the rich guy getting 39.6 cents on the dollar for the same deduction.
