My mother was cleaning some old ladies house and she told her to throw these out, so she gave them to me instead.

so I randomly got nostalgic to play Power Rangers for the Sega Genesis... as it was a game I played a lot as a kid (even though I sucked at it) and upon playing it... it seems that every ranger other than the pink ranger is just the red ranger recoloured. How lazy can you get?

I've been playing Banished a lot lately. It's a strategy city-builder, like Sim-City but a lot more complicated. There are different types of terrain, map sizes, and weather harshness in the game to make it more difficult/ fun. There's even disasters you can turn on and off when you first start a new settlement.
Depending on what level of difficulty you choose, you start with a certain number of citizens, with a supply wagon and little food. It's up to you to assign jobs to the citizens and build homes, storage buildings, and resource producing buildings for food and other valuables. You can also build a trading post and barter your goods for food, tools, food, seeds for farming, even livestock.
It's pretty addicting once you know what you're doing and I wish they would include more challenges or disasters to make the game more fun. But it's still a great game, and I highly recommend it if any of you like Sim City or any kind of strategy game. I think it may still be on sale, but if not, the full price is 20 bucks. If it's not on sale, I'd say wait for the winter sale, since I only grabbed it for five bucks during the Black Friday sale.

I tried playing Banished a while back. I never got out of the wut-am-i-supposed-to-do stage and everyone starved to death. | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

First tip is to get some kind of food resource built first. Gatherers huts are great and there's a slight variety of food for your people. The little gear tab at the bottom can let you pull up a few things that you should look at while playing, like the populations and how much of something you have. There's also a job assignment window, so you can assign a certain number of people to do a job.
You can always look at the wiki for help, too. http://banished-wiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

I had a hunter thing and a farm, and hunters and farmers, but they didn't seem to be doing much good. I was also building a fishing shack but I don't remember if that ever got finished. One of the households stayed in perfect health while all the others died out. I think they might have been hording all the food, but I don't know if that's even possible | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

Hmm. How many houses did you build? One of the big problems some people have is that they build too many houses and then everyone has babies, which makes the population go up and more resources have to be used.

I didn't build any. I was trying to build up the infrastructure first. I had them building a bridge which was probably a waste of time and resources though. They didn't really need it, but the only place I could build the fishing hut was on the other side of the river they were right next to | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

It probably would have been a good idea to build three or four houses after building a food generating building. Something else I like to do is assign as many people as possible to get food and cut firewood for the winter, but still leave one or two laborers just in case someone dies to take their place. After you get a decent amount of food, build a couple more houses for your population to grow.

This is my current and most successful game now. Added a spoiler incase the image was too big:

This place took a LOT of planning out and strategizing, but it paid out in the long run. i'm working on expanding my pastures for more cows, sheep and chicken. I have every seed in the game, so there's plenty variety of food around, but I'll probably work on expanding that, too. I'm also branching the town out to eventually fill the entire map. |

I haven't played that in a few updates because the new area really threw me off (it was p unbalanced when it first came out and that same update was insanely unbalanced in the opposite direction so you were SOL if you weren't in the new area). I hear it's a lot better lately though | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

I haven't played much lately because of work and the time it takes to download things over this internet connection, but I played FFXIV on my new laptop and I never realized how happy having 60fps would make me (my old laptop rarely got above 24 with that game).

This new laptop still doesn't have much video card strength to run any of the newer steam games everyone seems to be playing, but I've been able to finally run Civilization V fairly well. It performed pretty poorly on the old laptop and made it a pretty bad experience.
Really enjoying it now that it's running smoothly. I foresee an addiction.
