I actually just watched the Shining for the 2000th time. I finished the book a couple days ago, and it's just as and if not even more effective then the movie. That book really fucks your mind up! Plus the book indulges itself into Danny's psychic Shining powers then it does in the movie, where Danny doesn't have such a big role. If I had to choose one or the other, I'd probably think the book is better due to the background of the characters plus the creepiness of it all. But the movie is a masterpiece as well.
And oh yeah, for the people who think that they already know The Shining because they watched it BUT haven't read it. I advise you go and read it, considering the movie is nothing like the book! Everything is so much different in the book then it is in the movie. The only comparasion I can think of is Danny having The Shining, but in the book it's more explained and plays a way bigger role. And also the lady in room 217 (Movie: Room 237) although in the book that womans creepier and does more fucked up shit and also has a bigger part in the story. The movie really went a path of it's own, they left pretty much everything out from the book.

Both versions were amazing! And I can't wait until I'm gonna read the long awaited sequel 'Doctor Sleep' which will be soon! :)
All of the paranoia and trying to suss out what was happening was fun.
Didn't really care for the ending much though. The concept for the movie was good but I feel like they could've done more with it and had a better conclusion. There's so many ways they could've gone and they decided just to have a rogue Em come back and knock herself out (which, why didn't she just kill herself?)
I watched the AVGN movie recently out of curiosity. I loved his channel years ago, but I grew out of his content pretty fast. Still, I wanted to watch it to see if it was worth the hype he's been giving it for the past 4 years.
It was horribly bad as I expected it to be. Didn't help that it felt like a giant circlejerk with the fans being included, talking about how great and funnaaay he is throughout the entire movie, then having a crowd chuckling and laughing throughout the only game review in the movie.
I did appreciate the ET review though for not just pandering to the WORST GAME EVER train.

My favorite part was

When the car window breaks so they all go outside to check and Em runs into her boyfriend. The two quickly realize that they're not from the same group and have no idea what the other is talking about. The realization that came across their face and the lighting and music made everything so eerie, it was great
Also when we found out the two who split off had red glowsticks. Lots of cool moments throughout that movie

That part stuck out to me the most too actually. The way his face just FREEZES as she starts to back away was really unsettling and DREAM-LIKE
