I would post what I'm listening to but I feel like I'd be spamming (rich, me talking about spamming in this topic of all places) the same songs. I'm all in with Alcest's album Kodama. Merc do you have any suggestions of similar artists? I'm not a huge Black Metal fan but I like this take on it. These guys and Deafheaven specifically.
It's funny- I started out this morning wanting to play "Sunday Bloody Sunday" because of the lyrics applying as much to the Vegas shooting as to the original "Troubles", but didn't want to piss myself off any more.
I also remembered back to Jan 2009, when U2 played for Obama's first Inauguration, and how everything seemed like maybe, just maybe, things might get a bit better in this country.
Now look at us. It's just fucked up. So I settled on listening to U2 that won't piss me off about what could be, so I ended up on their cover of "Night and Day".
How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat?
All that Youtube video preview reminds me of now is Three Doors Down and their amazing blockbuster performance of Kryptonite in triplicate at 45's big shindig.

Uh Neige (Guy behind Alcest) was also in Amesoeurs a bit different but you might like it.
Try them, Coldworld (similar solo project, but without the fantasy element), and Ashes Against The Grain by Agalloch (different but dark good shit).
