The ending was pretty great. Frank and Claire fighting.
"I never should've made you ambassador"
"I never should've made you President"
OH SNAP |

Happy he ended up killing Rachel. Would have thought the whole story line would have been wasted if he'd just let her go.
Claire leaving Frank will be interesting. I liked Tom's character because it kind of opened up their relationship. Wish they could have done it more. Claire's decision is interesting. Frank is going to win re-election somehow. Not sure how he is going to though.
Not a huge fan of Heather's character. The Jackie/Remy thing is stupid too. I agree with Justin that there wasn't as much action as the first two seasons, and it seemed like a lot less progression was done. But of course how much more progression can you make as President of the US. I liked the first half of the season better than the second. |
Well see you next year! | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

It was great to see Doug back, though it seemed pretty clear to me he was dead in the S2 finale. I am not sure his resurrection was planned all along!
I thought it was very good, probably the best season so far. Franks schemes seemed to have actual opposition this time, and his victories didn't rely on his enemies acting like retards.
Also, the whole Russian arc was amazement. Vladimir Putin was a great addition to the cast! I hope he will be appearing in the show again. |

Frank to Dunbar: "If you endanger Doug again I will put you in your FUCKING grave."
So good. I want Frank and Doug to be bros. FRANK PLEASE DON'T TURN ON HIM!! I liked the "I'm not Peter Russo" line but I'm so afraid that's how he'll end up. I don't see things ending well for him |

RIP Peter :(
Wasn't expecting his story to end well but holy shit. Frank just took a new level of asshole. |

The music this season is so good. There's this piece that keeps playing that I don't really remember from previous seasons. It sounds so similar to the great soundtrack from THE VILLAGE. One specific moment where it starts playing was..
|
]Jackie supporting Dunbar on the news and Remy handing his pin to Doug. Made those moments a whole lot better |

I think S3 is pretty good so far.

Frank really seems to be losing his grip, which is tremendously entertaining. Moreso than him always winning. Doug's side story is amazing as well. |

I finished a few days ago and thought it was great. On par with the first two seasons. This one seemed to focus on character a lot more IMO
|
DOUG SURVIVED! I didn't think he would. I was fucking TERRIFIED every time he opened the back of that van door when Rachel was in it. I thought she'd bash him in the face with something and the season would end how the last one did, but with Rachel killing him for real this time. Really glad that didn't happen. Rachel's death was tragic and the shot of her being burried shocked me, the cut was great |

I'm on episode 11 and I'm loving it so far.
|
The stuff with Doug and his brother was gold. Doug's whole arc this season has been incredible. I love how the debates panned out with Remy and Jackie quitting the campaign.
Also Freddy "he needs company, when I worked at the rib joint I could go in the kitchen when I was sick of hearing his voice". Great scene.
The foreign policy stuff dragged a bit for me but I felt the same way about all the stuff with the Chinese and Tusk in the second season tbh.

I really enjoyed Season 3.
|
Expanded the characters a lot I thought. Less plot progression but it built on character stories and that's equally valid. There's less room for plot progression at this point so it really should be more about the characters.
Doug's arc was amazing but the end was really sad. I think him killing Rachel makes sense. And it's not like there are no threads left to the Zoe/Russo stuff. People can be brought back in if they need to be.
I'm assuming next season will be the last with the house of cards tumbling down. Can't see it stretching beyond that, but it'll be a satisfying conclusion. Definitely felt this season was worthwhile, making me care a lot more about side characters (particularly Doug, Remy, Jackie and Gavin) |
