Which five seasons do you think are the best? What about them makes them great? Winner, characters, location, gameplay? Discuss
I guess I probably represent the resident "casual viewer" perspective although I'm not a casual viewer.
1. Heroes v Villains - Great winner (obv)! Some great gameplay and really stupid gameplay (JT/Rupert/Colby).
2. Gabon - Besides the ending/winner, yuk! Also, did not love the location, too dusty/dirty. I like tropical islands. Some really great TC's and I loved Sugar but she tanked her game in the end so bad. I don't think it would've mattered really, she had a lot of hate from the jury. Anyway, would've been better without Bob/Susie in the F3.
3. Fans v Faves - Great TCs, blindsides, Great winner.
4. Amazon - I didn't love the winner but there were some great/fun characters imo. Cesternino, Dave Johnson, Matthew (crazy lol), Shawna (before she tanked her game); also the PB & chocolate scandal. I also really like the men v women set-ups (shocker!)
5. Blood v Water - First BvW season and great winner - I love Tyson and how much he grew from his 1st (funny) and 2nd (lol dummie) seasons to end up dominating and entertaining in this game.
6/Honorable Mention. Blood v Water/San Juan Del Sur - I loved Natalie's game so I could probably swap this with Amazon but I liked adding a season from the first 9 because that was my Survivor core and where I fell in love.
Probably?? Top three are super cemented. I'm not sure anything will ever top Cagayan for me. Cagayan/Amazon/Vanuatu have my three favorite players in Tony/RobC/Chris which probably helps a lot, but the gameplay was also really fun
Gabon and Cambodia can probably be switched around for any combo of them + Micronesia and China. Really liked the location/theme for China and the gameplay in Micro
I haven't seen HvV and I can't remember enough about Panama or Pearl Islands to put them there. I haven't seen those two since they first aired but I'd like to rewatch
My favorite seasons usually revolve around having great characters. I find that having characters that are rootable or entertaining outweighs a season that has less interesting characters and big game moves. With that being said my top five is probably
I watched all seasons as they aired up to Cook Islands and then just got kinda bored like most people seemed to. Then I got into ORGs and started watching again but that was when RI was starting so that's where I jumped back in. I've gone back and watched seasons in that gap I missed but I haven't gotten around to HvV. I feel like I've seen too many clips and know too much of what happens to motivate me to get into it. I'd watch Tocantins first but I'll still get around to it eventually
