So my friend bought this game last night but has terrible internet, so being the helpful person I am I offered to go grab his Xbox and game from his house while he's at work today and get everything updated and installed so he can play.
I'm definitely only doing this so I get to play it too until I take it back to him later.

anyone got the pig farm encounter yet?
|
kinda wish there was a LITTLE more to it tbh but still one of the better encounters yet, had that classic rockstar feel to it, especially the awkward moment where they started feeding each other (: I was half-expecting the meat to be human meat, though I guess it still could've been
I wish I would've thought to tie the two up first when I returned rather than just killing them, I'm guessing they had some good dialogue if you raid through their house to find the money in front of them |

also it seems like everyone here and that I've talked to about this game seems to love the hunting aspect but idgi. Like the legendary bear hunt was fun but I have almost no interest in hunting down any of the non-legendaries, especially compared to all the other fun collection sidequests you can do

not a big fan of the hunting itself neither, just doin it for the trinkets/talismans and maybe the satchels. I totally agree there are other sidequests a LOT more interesting. | "There he goes. Before I read the spoiler I thought you were talking about the gunslinger mission with Granger. I have no idea what this is referring to but it sounds super intriguing. Where is it at?
And tbh I don't do a ton of hunting and get very impatient when doing it. I mainly just do it to eat and maintain my weight and health. I don't go out of my way to get three star pelts. If I see one in plain view while riding along, I'll try going for the kill. But outside that, I don't do it often. It is a really great feature though. I'm sure I'll do a lot of it once I beat the story and just go around trying to beat the challenges and shit.
Speaking of which, I'm at 93% :( I'm sad it's almost over, but this is one of the most enjoyable video games I've ever played. Perhaps it's recency bias but Arthur is up there as one of my favorite video game protagonists of all time. He surpassed John Marston for me, which was my biggest concern going in that he wouldn't live up to John's legacy. After I finish, I'm already planning on doing a low honor run where I just be a murderous dick to everyone, don't help anyone who asks and choose every asshole option available. I just wish the bounty system wasn't so tough on you. |

Arthur is likable a lot really, "a quite time" was hilarious!
when he stumbled down the stairs in the valentine saloon totally drunk, lenny at the bar defending himself against some fellas.
one guy asks arthur: who you think you' talking to?!
and arthur replies: NOBODY.....I'm talking to NOBODY!
ahahaha. that was really good!

but in general he's a "well-written" character with "depth". when he goes out to get ZEE MUNNEH you know he means business and he's not to be messed with. but he's also got a more natural/thoughtful side to him. depends on the situation.

It was somewhere on my way to Saint Denis from the base camp...pretty close to the outskirts of Denis though. There's a big house a bit off the side of the road which perked my interest so I went to check it out, and it turned out there was a man sitting on the porch to invite me in for dinner
As good as the main story/characters can be, random encounters really are the #1 selling point to this and other Rockstar games for me. It makes their worlds feel more alive than any other developer out there

I haven't checked in a while but I'm p sure my Arthur is incredibly malnourished at this point. I pretty much only eat to avoid death (:

Eh I just "hunt" from my horse if I see a 3 star if I CBF
Which reminds me, I had a bunch of pelts on my horse yesterday and went into Saint Denis, accidentally tackled a guy when I was trying to mount my horse, got a bounty, cops came, started shooting, and killed me even though it was a small bounty and I didn't pull a gun on them.
ALL THE PELTS I HAD ARE GONE, FUCK THESE CONTROLS.

After you eat some meat or stew, try eating chocolate, crackers, sweets, etc. it fattens you up.

gat-damn the gunplay is so good, just finished AN HONEST MISTAKE, seriously guns-blazing towards the end of that mission. I gotta say I really digg the story so far, deep in chapter 3, the gang playing both sides/families.
on a hunting/satchel note: I'm getting there, but man it's time consuming. and I guess I need that varmint rifle, FUCK crafting those small game arrows! | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Been on the Prologue for a week now, what a fine time to stretch the game out! (:
I will say the only thing I disliked was the final battle was a bit... weak. Maybe I was just expecting something GRANDER for our final fight with Micah. Although the dead eye ending with being able to absolutely pelt him with bullets was very cool and pretty fucking gruesome. I shot him a bunch of times in the head so the final shot of him whimpering around before falling was brutal. Just like the first game, except to a piece of shit!
Very happy Charles survived, I gasped when he got shot and thought for sure he was done! I expected Sadie to be done when she got stabbed too.
The ending segment itself was great. I did not expect it to be as long as it did! I really enjoyed building the ranch and the bounty missions were fun. The SKINNERS were a brutal gang to fight. It almost felt like a DLC and made for a nice little happy ending to a game that was going to inevitably going to have a sad twist.
I'll almost definitely replay this down the road, that was one of the best video game experiences I've had. Rockstar does it again, a masterpiece! And if online is anything like Red Dead's first one, I'm stoked. |

is it good? I remember having fun with the first game, but it got very repetitive.

I really HATE the fact that you cannot see how much time you have spent ingame, and that it is nowhere for you to see on PS4. those lucky xbox dudes...
