GOOD PREMIERE
I was into it. I kept waiting and waiting for the inevitable opening murder and for shit to hit the fan. Couldn't tell what it was gonna be for awhile. I'm glad we got two. I agree they weren't as interesting, but the air conditioning scene was still great. I don't mind that this series follows a formula of some bumbling idiots getting wrapped up in a murder and pursued by much smarter cops
The cinematography was REALLY great. You know how critics will talk about some shows/movies and say you can freeze any moment and hang that frame in a museum? This is definitely one of those shows. Some of the shots were so nice and the lighting was perfect
I'd complain about a lack of Hanzee too but Hanzee was a no one at the start of his season, coolest thing about him was that he came outta nowhere and became amazing. I can see Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character being the villain, I kinda think she's playing Ray. But Malvo/Milligan were there from the start and we don't have that type of character yet...maybe the strange British man? He wasn't bad. WE'LL SEE!
Promising start |

Apparently the grandfathers' nose and mouth were GLUED shut. That's why he looked so weird too. Probably suffocated. DAMN MAURICE!
PS I always like Scoot McNairy in stuff. Sad to see Maurice go so early, he felt like a fully realized character |

Episode 2 was eh. I'm still liking Ray and his fiancee's storyline but the rest hasn't been too interesting so far. Especially the police investigation (though that's all set-up right now anyway)
and where's Jim Gaffigan?? | |

oh that was awesome! mixed feelings about the comic consequences but the rest was great. felt slow paced and artsy fartsy at times but I loved that really.

Thought it was pretty good, felt like a real weird time to break away from the action though. I actually would've liked it more if they spent more time in the flashbacks to really flesh out Tad. Especially cuz I like that actor, he was really good in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Guessing the "artsy fartsy" part you're referring to were the animated vignettes, which felt like weirdness for weirdness' sake. Wasn't a huge fan but I was laughing at "I CAN HELP!" by the end
tbh the episode reminded me of Mr. Robot S2 in some ways. Basically after all the critical acclaim of their first season(s), the showrunners are allowed to just run wild now (which is a good and bad thing)

okay they're shifting gears and I am getting very excited. when v.m. did the cup thing I knew playtime was about to be over. chaos is about to break loose, high tension in the air.
btw I think the NEW chief is hilarious. the way he just does his thing.....that storymode he dwells in to just file anything old chief said under coincidence....haha!
