Christian- The Stand really is fantastic. If you don't want to fully invest in slogging through again, there was a decent miniseries put out in the 90s or so with Molly Ringwold and Gary Sinise and a few other folks that was relatively decent. That way you only lose like eight hours or so that it ran if you hate it and if you like it, then you can go back and read the detail in the book.

I've looked at that every so often at Walmart lol I'll buy it when it's cheap.
I know that I'll like the story. It just takes me forever to read a book. And that one is super long. I'll start a book, but if I skip a night because I'm tired or I want to watch something on tv instead, I'll lose interest. It happens very often. I'll only read when I go to bed. :P And sometimes as soon as I pick a book up, I'll fall asleep.
I'm still reading book 2 in the Wayward Pines series, but I'm almost at the end. I am enjoying those!

Yeah- it's the same reason I've been reading short story collections off and on. Smaller bites to take. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

Some fun reads:
-Lunatics by dave barry. It's just ridiculously funny.
-John dies at the end. It's weird and hilarious
-Science fair Another OTT humor setup by barry.
-literally everything written by Carl Hiaasen. Anything goes with this guy.
-chris Moore's books make the supernatural funny from vampires to aliens.
-Terry Pratchett does satire while still telling a great story with his discworld series.
-Neil Gaiman incorporates humor and various dead religions in story form. Not pure comedy, but very funny

Well, basically everything you described for Gaiman (which I'm assuming you read American Gods and potentially Good Omens) applies to The Sandman comics. Dead religions still alive but struggling without worshipers, Hell left open for all the cursed and demons to escape, and above it all Gaiman's pantheon of the Endless: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Despair, Desire, and Delirium. The whole story begins with an Aleister Crowley-type character who tries to capture Death and catches Dream instead.

Yeah I think I've read all of Gaiman's novels. I need to find the comic book in my library and try it out.

The thought processes of the characters are pretty crucial to the book and that rarely translates well. It may still be a decent show, especially for those who haven't read the book.

I'm looking forward to it. As Ape said, it can be hard to translate to the screen, so I'm sure there are gonna be sacrifices made. Gaiman thinks they did a good job, though. They did similar compromises with Stardust (which originally appeared in graphic novel form) but the movie is still pretty fun, especially De Niro as the cross dressing captain. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

Ape- Do you have a daughter? If so, if you want to make your wife cry, get a copy of Gaiman's "Blueberry Girl". It's a poem he wrote for Tori Amos when she had a baby girl, then later Charles Vess did art for it.

She started college in the fall. It would probably make me cry, too.
