So I usually don't like the idea of doing this for games that I host, because I just appreciate everyone playing and I know sometimes people sign up and then get busy or whatever, and I don't want anyone to take it personally, but there were definitely some standouts in this game, and given that it was for sure structured in scum's favor from the get-go (I mean, do you really sign up for an Oregon Trail game expecting it to favor town?), I think it was pretty crazy how town managed to steamroll towards the end. So here we are...Hall of Fame (HOF) and Hall of Lame (HOL) and LOL.


HOF

Jamie
Jamie's reads were solid through the entire game and it's ultimately what got him killed. And based on the order of kills--tracker dying early, etc. he quickly realized his role wouldn't have a whole lot of use, so he got himself into a position to be elected lookout multiple nights. Being trusted as town from pretty early on was essential to town's win.

farlig
Really never thought I'd be typing this...but he was integral to town. People can criticize farlig for shooting CAL-PRO, who probably would have been lynched, but there was a risk of a townie being shot instead--possibly a townie with a stronger role than Gmaj's--and town ended up lynching Gmaj which was...what. Your speculations about the mechanics of the scum team were pretty spot on, also.

Timmah
Aiming to get himself elected lookout on nights he couldn't shoot was vital to town, and watching Lamps the night Primate used the unstoppable really helped expedite town's win. Some of Timmah's reads and kills weren't THE BEST, but he was a really active contributor and was working really hard to figure out the mechanics. Would be criminal not to put him here.

Sami and Helios
These two didn't roll over and die and kept fighting. Sami for only your second game, you did incredibly well under pressure and I can't believe you continued to survive after your claim. I also can't believe town bought it...ANYONE could pass items. I think farlig was the only one who commented on this? But it was his word against yours at that point.

CAL-PRO
Was def scummy, but this was only his second game and I think he really started to find his footing and figure out how mafia works and get more comfortable posting. Hope you play again, CAL-PRO!

Mittens
His role changed...multiple times. And town never really entertained the thought of lynching him, ever, or questioned the possibility that he could be a killer. It was shitty luck that his kills mirrored the mafia's targets, but in the end probably ended up working in his favor.

Gmaj7 and Rodney
These two were really great sports about the Day One fuck up. Lynching the town RB on a mod error is a pretty big mistake, and you guys were both really, really cool about it. Gmaj was up for whatever role we were willing to put him in, and then when town STILL lynched him again, he took it like a champ and still followed along and was active in the graveyard.


HOL

Havo
I appreciated Havo only giving food out to people he had a feeling were town, even though this didn't really matter with the game mechanics. However, it's pretty bad when the mods have more posts than you in a game and you come in and shade some of the towniest players and then walk away. And then give yourself starvation because you didn't pay attention enough to know you could buy food or go hunting at night. Havo also didn't have a night action, so he could hunt pretty much any night without penalty. Towards the end of the game, though, he was around a bit more and helped the town lynch some scum! Can't be too hard on him. But his inactivity was definitely a distraction for town for a while.

TIB
TIB honestly doesn't REALLY deserve to be here. He was frustrated enough with himself during the game so I feel bad about this, but I was YELLING in the host forum because with his role, why on earth would you not visit the claimed third party native immediately?! His failure to do this early, though, really didn't have a massive impact on the game because Mittens' kills ended mirroring the mafia's. Otherwise TIB is probably an honorable mention for HOF because his reads were solid from very early (ordering someone to kill Badger or Sami and move on was ON POINT) and he was a solid town voice.

The Mafia Team
Mafia got off to a super solid start, and had a lot of really good mechanics available to them. Inactivity sort of killed it for them...If they had used their janitor action early, they could have capitalized on a lot of the game mechanics and made this a lot more competitive. It was a shame to see you guys lose steam, but I know for some of you real life got in the way.

Thanks again to everyone who played and beared with Zach and I through our mistakes--big and little. This set up was ambitious, but it was a lot of fun to see what you all did with it. It was also pretty fun revisiting an old game that I had so much fun with in grade school and trying to adapt it to a mafia format.

And thanks a ton to Zach to doing this with me and writing most of the flavor! :) I know it had been forever since you'd been involved in FE mafia, and it was nice to have you back.
