---
As a reminder, we have chosen to pick out songs that stuck out to us, or ones that you would listen to again/put on a playlist. There is no hard rule to what songs you have to include here, but they should just be the highlights of the album for you. Try to pick at least two, if you can, but you can throw on as many as you want here. (My normal habit with this is to put a small star next to a song right after I listen to it to remind myself that it stuck out to me.).
On top of this, we are giving the album an official rating from 1-10. Your rating can be off any system or scale that you choose, but here is a general scale just in case you are needing a little help pinpointing where it should be:
|
10. A classic. One of your favorite albums of all time.
9. A great album. One of the best albums of the year.
8. A good album. You would suggest it to a friend.
7. An above average album. The songs hold up pretty well but the album won't change your life.
6. A promising album. There is potential for them to create great music, they just might not have perfected their sound.
5. An okay album. Your life is pretty unbothered after listening to it. You'd listen if it was on but nothing more.
4. An uninspired album. It has a few good songs but the rest were bad.
3. A disappointing album. You expected better from the album and artist and neither delivered on it.
2. A bad album. You would never go out of your way to listen to this artist or album again.
1. A horrible album. You can't understand how this album crawled its way out of a studio. |

I"ve never heard of him before. Singer-songwriter and model. :P
I've started to listen already while I prep Day 2 of Sitcom Mafia. | |

I have an EP of him in my downloads, it’s from a couple of years ago. Curious what this album sounds like.
The Rilo Kiley album is great too btw. It didn’t get my vote because it wasn’t new to me, but I do recommend it. | |

1. Know Me Well - good voice, maybe the more I listen to it the more I'll like it. But it's really kind of slow. Weird choice for an album's opening song. It's kind of sleepy. But I haven't heard the rest yet, so...
2. Indigo Home - Already I like this one better than Know Me Well. By the time it ended though, my opinion changed a little. This one started out better, but by the end I was bored. With Know Me Well, I was bored when it started but singing along by the end of it. lol
3. Little Giant - Title track time. And favourite song so far. I might listen to this one again. But it's still very, very slow. I feel like that's the whole album though. Perfect for early morning or late night listening.
4. Deeper Than Shallow - There's not been much variance so far. All the songs really seem to blend together and they've all been just about 5 minutes each so far as well. I'm thinking maybe the shorter songs will be a little more up-tempo?
5. Once - and now a 6+ minute song lol
6. Tiger Striped Sky - I like this one. Short and sweet.
still need to listen to:
7. Home From Home
8. Different Child
9. Sing For The Wind
10. Hands
11. How Long
12. Ran Before The Storm
Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I had been in the mood to listen to this type of album. Overall, pretty good vocals and the man is clearly a talented artist, but it's all very sleepy town.

I finished the album. My opinion is the same.
The songs themselves are good. Easy on the ears, good vocals and musical arrangements etc. As a whole album though it gets old quickly.
Tiger Striped Sky, Different Child, and Hands stood out to me. But I'm not in a hurry to add them to a playlist or anything. | |

I need to post my full eval but “Deeper Than Shallow” is by far by favorite song on the album right now. Absolutely beautiful.
And Christian, I completely disagree—I think the tracks differ quite a bit, especially for this genre. Maybe that’s because this is what I generally listen to, I don’t know. I’m not being biased because I nominated this—I actually had only heard the two singles from this album when I nominated it and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the rest of it and how different the songs have been from the singles. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

I’m 3 songs in and I really like it. I’m at work, and it’s perfect music for an early morning at work. I don’t think I would play this in my car though, since i need more upbeat music when driving. | |

It kinda sounds similar to Gregory Alan Isakov in a way, I really like it. Gotta give it a few more spins before I can pick my favorites. It’s music I often listen to, and each song sounds different to me, but I can see Christian’s point too like if you’re used to more upbeat music then it’s all quite slow. | |

I was going to do a full song by song recap like the last album, but all of the notes ended up being the same.
"Quality vocals, but extremely underwhelmed by the rest of the track."
I give it a 3/10
Not my style of music at all, and honestly it felt like an album that any of my musician friends could put together in a weekend.

2/10
I did not like this at all. Every song sounded like it belonged in a sad montage on Grey's Anatomy.
This was one of those albums for me where you hear the first track and you feel you've heard them all. Everything felt like it was the same tempo. The melodies were boring and uninspired. This guy seems to be more interested in his lyrics than the music.
Every track seemed to use the same droning strings and harmonised background vocals, and there didn't seem to be much variation in what they were doing between songs.
There was ONE track that stood out to me. It would be a stretch to say I liked it, but it had something. That was Tiger Striped Sky. It was a relief to hear something quite upbeat after the first 5 songs which were slow and gloomy. The Drop D tuning helped make things a bit more interesting too.
But nothing here surprised me. I didn't hear anything I haven't heard before. Also, I have a special dislike for that vocal sound, which I can only describe as the 'indie vocal sound' which I've heard from loads of artists. I feel like I've heard this singer before even though I've never listened to him til now.

I don't regret listening to it though. I pick up something even from the stuff I don't enjoy. | |

yeahh I'm with Wikey, also went with a 2, the album did nothing for me. I guess I usually prefer more upbeat stuff in general anyway, but overall I was just bored with this | |
