Madness/Paranoia - Probably my easiest choice. The Thing, Alien, the Shining are in my top five horror movies so CLEARLY this is what I'm into.

Body Horror - I always associate Body Horror with practical effects, which I love. The Thing is probably the GOAT in that regards.

Haunted House - I feel like there's a lot to do in this genre, so there's a lot of variety. Favorites that come to mind are The Grudge, The Shining, and in someways, Evil Dead.

Possession - EVIL DEAD BABYYYY oh yea, and the Exorcist.

Creature - This was the last one I chose. I love movies with really cool creature designs/something that looks super creepy. I think the Thing or Alien would probably be the best examples.

Least favorite is probably Werewolf. The only good Werewolf movie I've seen is American Werewolf in London. Outside of the Howling, I really don't know any others that are considered watchable/entertaining. I think the genre is just limited and one note. DOESN'T TO IT FOR ME!

The scariest horror movies are the ones that could actually happen. Movies like the Backwoods/Redneck or Home Invasion categories.

Agreed though, always spooky

There aren'tmany horror movies that don't suck, but I picked:

Madness- Psych thriller stuff is ok if I'm in the mood and it's done well.

Classic, Mythological- So rare that this is done well, but I always like the premise, at least.

Sci-fi-See classical above.

Aliens- Kind of like sci-fi, but often have enough action to be watchable.

Zombies- I like a good zombie flick, as long as it doesn't take itself seriously. If it's super OTT or funny, It's OK with me.

Madness/Paranoia- Love a good story where you can't trust the main narrator/character. Session 9 does a great job with this.

Sci fi- I always like me a good sci fi flick.

Vampires- This gets so many crappy movies unfortunately, but when done well becomes very entertaining. I like to see twists on the classic story/set up, like I Am Legend (even if it is far from the original novel), What We Do in the Shadows, and Daybreakers.

Haunted House - Always ready for a good haunting. Just rewatched The Changeling a few weeks back.

Witches/Cult- Though these often cross the line to madness/paranoia films.


Least favorite: Found footage. That shit with the handheld camera leads you spending too much time with jumpy, jerky cameras that you get sea sick instead of scared.

I liked blair witch when it came out because it was different. Can't stand that jerky jumpy home movie thing now that it has been done more than once, though.

I thought the concept of Blair Witch was interesting- the multimedia run on that was pretty revolutionary (providing web sites with information on the team, their research, and the like). The actual movie is mostly meh, though, and got parodied a bit.

Found Footage, Witches/Cult, Sci-fi, Madness/Paranoia, Haunted House.

REC and Chronicle (not horror but) for my favorite found footage movies.

Classic/Mythological for my least favorite if I'm being completely honest. No time for that old shit for the most part.

I wanted to, I really did. But I can't.

Love werewolves but it appears to be nearly impossible to do them any justice. In the eighty years since Universal dropped Wolfman on the world there's been like... one great movie and two decent ones.

Even as someone that is super lenient on werewolf movies, after reviewing a "list of all Werewolf movies", I can only pick out four that I would pursue watching again. American Werewolf in London (obv. the great one in my previous post). Dog Soldiers and... fuck, I guess Silver Bullet would be the two okay ones (though I do love Dog Soldiers).

Late Phases, Ginger Snaps and The Howling (only the first one, and not the reboot) are watchable. Howl I guess was not terrible but I don't really remember a ton about it. The like ten or fifteen minute werewolf segment in Trick r Treat would rank higher for me than 90% of full length weremovies.

when i was 10 i was a huge fan of Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman

it's about on par or better compared to other werewolf movies
