My sister is getting married on Friday and I’m one of the groomsmen, my first time in a wedding party

SO! Our poll today will be relevant. Have you been a groomsmen/bridesmaid before? Have you been a best man/maid of honor? How many times? How was your speech? What’d you do for the bachelor(ette) party? TELL US

Wedding party stuff is fun but you may have to do a lot of stuff for your sister at the wedding so be prepared to be helpful.

I was the best man at a friend's wedding, but it was a small, low key affair.

I was a groomsman at one of my friend's weddings.

But I was not at my own brother's wedding. (:

I’ve been a best man twice, and a groomsman 5 other times.

The best bachelor party was actually a weekend that I set up in Chicago. But also set up something similar when my brother got married. But it was a weekend of bar hopping, paint ball wars and golf.

The paint balling was the most fun, cause not everyone had done it. Actually when our time was over everyone was Ted to pay to keep going which we did. Of those bachelor parties only four had strippers.

As far as the best man speeches. I thought mine were good, I’ve heard plenty of better ones though. I just tried to talk from the heart, and limit trying to be funny.

I've been a Groomsmen 4 times, but never a best man. Was only the ring bearer when I was a wee lad.

The first two weddings I was in I was the last Groomsmen so I was stuck taking a little 10/13 year old cousin.

Also I have caught the garter once. Also Pistol Pete showed up at one of the weddings. It was a grand time.

Most of my friends in Cali I was across the country when they got married, so missed all those (in fact, I was only at one sister's wedding and missed both fo my other sister's weddings- lol). It's tough when it is $600/person to fly across country and you can spend less to fly to Europe, so you do that instead.

My friends locally all didn't start getting married until they were much older, so we haven't done crazy bachelor parties and such, since we got a lot of crazy out in our 20s.

I've only been to one (real) wedding, which was one of my buddies from work. My date was a bridesmaid but I wasn't anything.

Sounds like you really were the best man that day.

I've never been a best man, thankfully lol. I'd have so much of anxiety about it.
Being a groomsman is kind of fun, except when you have to pose for all the silly pictures or are forced to dance at the wedding. :P

When I was best man at my childhood best friend's wedding, it was fun, cause I was able to work in a ton of funny shit we did as kids. Embarrassed him some but not too much. But I worked on that speech for weeks leading up to the reception and actually went through it a couple times with the rest of the groomsman to make sure it wasn't too much and I was good friends with several of the bridesmaids as well and had them take a look to make sure I wasn't out of line.

I completely went the opposite route for my sister's wedding. I went for the laughs. I don't do mushy. But it went over really well, I think because nobody knew what to expect.
In general though, I think short and sweet is best.

I'm glad you edited, because I was gonna ask about the other guy not dying.

i was a bridesmaid 3 times (for 3/4 of my older cousins. The 4th was married before I was a teenager so I wasn't involved in that wedding) but I was pretty young each time so I didn't get to go to the bachelorette parties besides a short dinner thing before the actual parties.

I did not enjoy any part of these weddings besides the limo rides.
