Finished watching. Such a good movie. I’m sleeping on the rating. It’s an 8 or 9 for me.

I'll give it a 6...which seems to be my default FE Watches rating. Letterboxd is teaching me that my default rating in general is a 6 on this scale, which for me is basically a solid movie that I acknowledge is good but probably wont have a huge impact on me or dip into my favorites

Which is exactly what this movie was really. It was good. Al Pacino's performance....was good. I'm shocked that THIS is his only best actor Oscar win but he was always pretty entertaining to be fair. It did feel more like one of those 'hey oops we should've given it to you years ago we fucked up so here take one before it's too late' Oscar wins (cough gary oldman cough)

This is shockingly the only Pacino movie I've seen outside of The Godfather which I struggle to remember a whole lot about (I really need to rewatch and then finish the trilogy). He was solid throughout but started winning me over more in the "hearing" scene, those were his best bits. I actually thought Chris O'Donnell was a pretty worthy match

Also Philip Seymour Hoffman steals every scene in every single movie he's ever been in. His death was an absolute tragedy, he's one of the best actors of all time

"Tits...HOOAH!" possibly the line of the movie

Thomas Newman is a legendary composer but his score here was so...early 90's hokey drama. But to be fair it probably helped inspire a bunch of scores that went on to copy it and I probably heard those first so this seemed more cliche in comparison. But Road to Perdition, Shawshank, American Beauty...whew, gr8 scores that are better than this one

I sound like I didn't like it but I did, it was solid despite some of the cliches. It just didn't grip me and they could've shaved off some time for sure. A 6 in the scale above fits my feelings perfectly

Godfather is good, but I'm not a "saw it 75 times and would watch it right now" guy.

I gave it an 8. I really would have gone with 8.5 if I could. This was a very good movie and very enjoyable. It was 2.5 hours long but it never seemed to drag and went quick. Pacino is always fun to watch and O'Donnell was really good as well.

Would highly recommend for sure.

My wife had seen this movie before and it's one of her all time favorites. She jokes about signing up here and doing this. I can't let that happen.

Finished last night!

I have to agree with a lot of what Ahoda said. If I could give it an 8.5, I definitely would have!

The time really didn't have an effect on me. Almost every scene did a really great job of maintaining my attention. I think I lot of it has to do with Pacino's performance, the guy is a serious powerhouse. I think he made me laugh in almost every scene he was in. He just knew how to carry a scene.

I was not expecting to see a young PSH. Let's have a cycle of only PSH movies soon. :D

I think the only thing preventing me from giving this a nine was that other than Pacino's character, nothing else particularly won me over. I thought the music was ordinary and I can really remember ever being wow'd by the shots or how it was filmed. I think this was just an incredibly solid performance movie.

HOOAH!
