STEP ON INTO FE'S LIVING ROOM FOLKS! It's time to kick off FE movie club aka movie night aka FE Watches
Here's how we'll do it (this can change whenever if we like something better). For the first installment, I'VE GOT THE REMOTE. I've got five movies picked out. We're gonna vote on one and then I'll choose someone to take over for the next installment. They can keep some or all or none of my leftover four movies if they'd like, entirely up to them
The biggest issue will be choosing a movie that most or all of us haven't seen. It's gonna be tough, especially with the movie nerds on here, but we'll do our best. Because of that, please vote for all movies that you haven't seen. Don't just vote for the one or two you're most interested in watching. To me this whole thing should be about trying to get each other to watch (hopefully good) movies that we wouldn't normally check out or we've been too lazy to finally sit down and watch
ONTO MY CHOICES! These aren't the five top movies I've been most dying to see or anything, they're five movies I've heard of and have been wanting to watch but haven't gotten around to it. All are recent movies, all are highly praised from what I've seen. I was gonna post the trailers but I feel like it's sorta better to go in blind? I hate watching a trailer right before I watch a movie but to each their own if you wanna look them up ofc. I just posted the IMDB descriptions. The choices are:
Blue Jay: Meeting by chance when they return to their tiny California hometown, two former high-school sweethearts reflect on their shared past.
Half Nelson: An inner-city junior high school teacher with a drug habit forms an unlikely friendship with one of his students after she discovers his secret.
Philomena: A world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman's search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent.
Tickled: Journalist David Farrier stumbles upon a mysterious tickling competition online. As he delves deeper he comes up against fierce resistance, but that doesn't stop him getting to the bottom of a story stranger than fiction.
Victoria: A young Spanish woman who has recently moved to Berlin finds her flirtation with a local guy turn potentially deadly as their night out with his friends reveals a dangerous secret.
I haven't seen any of these obviously. Please vote for any/all that you haven't seen. Whichever movie has the most votes by tomorrow night will be our first movie

Blue Jay is with Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson (who are both great) and is entirely improvised by the two, almost no script to speak of
Philomena is with Judi Dench and Steve Coogan (who are both great) and is not improvised by the two. Nominated for best picture
Half Nelson is with Ryan Gosling and was one of his launching pad movies, he was nominated for an oscar for best actor
The next two are a bit more out there. Tickled is...exactly what it sounds like. Supposed to be really fucking weird and great and takes dark turns
Victoria is a German movie (that means subtitle reading sry) that is shot in one single continuous take, I think it's about a heist. Dialogue is also entirely improvised

Blue Jay/Half Nelson/Victoria are all on Netflix, other two aren't. That hopefully shouldn't be a big deal if you can find streams/if Ahoda does whatever he was talking about to allow people to watch who can't find it

Nope. It'd be cool to all try to watch the movie on the same night and post thoughts afterwards but I expect most to trickle in whenever they have some time to watch it
There's also sites like rabbit that let you all join a chat room and watch something at the same time which could be a lot of fun to try out sometime

I'm thinking we'll do this on the 1st and 15th of each month for however long we go, two movies a month. Once a week seems like a bit too much to me
Since we're starting this on the 9th and December's a busy month, we'll just stick with one movie this month and start a new one January 1st

Shouldn’t we watch the one with the most votes?

If anyone has seen any of these try to refrain from sharing your thoughts on them for right now. Better for the rest of us to have little preconceived thoughts about the movie going in

Next time don’t pick 5 movies no one has seen, lol. Or was that the plan to pick the one you wanted anyways?
