Hi guys! The laptop I've had for about 3 years now is honestly a piece of shit and I'm currently on the market for a laptop that will last me a few years, is durable and portable, something I can actually play games on and can be used practically. Does anyone have an recommendations or advice on what to look for? Thank you!

This is my laptop. It is nice. I don't think it cost as much as this though! And if it did I now feel guilty for not getting my parents an anniversary gift.

(edit: now that I'm looking it up, it was probably a refurbished one. It's very nice though so don't snub that option)

I have a 7 year old Acer Aspire that still works, albeit a bit shit now so can confirm they live long!

http://wuggee.com/find-a-laptop.html

I find this a decent place to start to get an idea of whats available. Then after you find a few good ones you should google them and look for reviews, just to be safe it isnt some shit.

What are you mainly going to use it for? What kind of games do you want to play on it? We talking Crysis 3 / Bioshock Infinite or Sims 2?

My old laptop was an Aspire too, and it lasted about 7 years until I got fed up with it. They really do last.

Don't get whatever Curtis keeps buying

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 a lot on my mom's Mac but I would also like the convenience of being able to play when I'm also at my dad's house. If there's a game that's highly graphics oriented that I could also just get on my PS4, I'll be getting it on my PS4. The laptop right now however can't even handle Minecraft, the screen has a short in it so I have to position it at a perfect angle to use, and I have to click the mouse button 10 times for it to actually register. Overall, not very efficient and very frustrating. That being said, I've never had a computer good enough to really invest in becoming a PC gamer but if I did I would start playing PC games a lot more, if that makes any sense?

I don't even know where I'm going with this, I'm only productive during super later hours but my brain also can't function at super late hours so you can see why my grades have been dropping.

I've never played guild wars, or minecraft, so I dunno about those, but the laptop I linked has so far handled Sims 3 with about half the expansions, and ~200 mods without too many issues (besides getting somewhat worryingly hot).

There's a $375 refurbished one on TigerDirect

In an ideal world I would like to have a computer that would handle Sims 4 but I honestly feel like it's going to flop like Sim City.

Wait... do you travel often or are you playing to live faraway when you go to college? If so, they buy a laptop, if not buy a desktop, they're usually more powerful than laptops and you ca replace parts.

Well desktops are awesome and obviously better suited for gaming than laptops. You totally sure you want a laptop?

Soo we talking a laptop that can run Guild wars 2, whats the price range?

Expect to pay roughly 800+ or so for a new gaming laptop.

There are some good HP's out there you could look for, I'm personally not a big fan of ACER but they tend to have decent prices from what I see.

Parents are divorced and I'll also want something that will last until college in 2 years.

And yeah I mean most of my big gaming will be PS4 and Mac, however it'd be swell for the laptop to be able to handle a few games lol.

My mom told me she'd get me a new one for Christmas but I'm 16 now so I'm thinking about asking for a more expensive one and maybe doing monthly payments so I would eventually have paid off half.
