Think I'm gonna blow through the end of the game tonight. Then I must find all of the Riddler's items

I've heard a lot of people say that Asylum>>>>City recently. Was Arkham City bad? Or was Asylum just great? And what is ORIGINS? I hadn't heard of that until recently and wasn't aware there was a third one

I come in on the other side in saying City > Asylum, but the arguments for Asylum being superior I can definitely see. And it does seem to be the popular opinion.

Everything being more contained and less sprawling in the first one gave it a certain feel that kind of went out the window in the sequel where you're flying all over a city with snipers firing at you, stumbling across seemingly random villains. But I love me some seemingly random villains.

Origins came out not that long ago - but it is made by a different company. I believe Rocksteady is working on a true sequel to City. I have not played Origins yet, or the 3DS version. Which is apparently different.

Recently I've been reading a LOT of people say that Asylum is better than City, but like Zersch I disagree. Both are great but City was on another level for me. It's the first open-world game I played that actually made me want to explore and do all the side-missions. I couldn't wait to see what Batman villain would show up next, and it was really cool to see how they all intertwined (like the story with Penguin and Mr. Freeze). And the boss fights are way better. Only thing I missed was Scarecrow, but he got represented pretty well in Asylum already.

City is open world? That sounds sweet. I'd love to fly around Arkham and get into brawls. I might pick that up after I beat this

Yeah, with the various villains kind of acting as your contacts in GTA.

You can glide around the city all you want. Eventually you get a power-up where you do a sort of dive-bomb. Once you get enough acceleration you can pull back on the control stick and it's pretty much like flying. It's a glorious feeling.

I haven't played Origins yet, but I prefer City over Asylum just because it gives you so much more to do and work with.

It's a great feeling when you finally get the new weapon/technology that you've needed

I loved both games, quite possibly my favourite of all time. That said, City was a major improvement on Asylum, I loved the free roam. Origins is the one people are saying isn't as good as the other two. I thoroughly enjoyed City and still have to finish the predator and combat challenges. Those can be very addictive.

That basically sums up City, thugs respawn allowing you to constantly glide and beat down on people. You level up quicker due to this. Riddles are more exciting. Catwoman story was great as well.

See I haven't played City but I loved Asylum for how tight it was. This may have left some thinking it was too linear but I thought it was perfectly paced. There was a constant feeling of discovery that was almost Metroid-like, and I can't help but think making it open-world would SPOIL the game a little.

Incidentally did any of you find the FERAL inmates as :| as I did? I really admired when the game would slip into HORROR (as it did in the Scarecrow levels, especially the last one), because of how effective it was, but those guys really scared the shit out of me
