December 13th, 2013. Twelve days before Christmas
Two helicopters chopped their way through a powerful snowstorm. Snow spatted against the windshield of each heli, making it near impossible to see outside.
The passengers held on tight and bundled up. It had been a long ride, but it was about to end.
Two rings of faintly blinking red lights on the ground below signaled where to land. The two helicopters slowly touched down. Upon hitting the ground, the twelve passengers grabbed their bags and hopped out. The helicopters took off immediately, leaving the twelve alone. Together, they all took in their surroundings:
After quite some time and various arguments over what they were doing there, the faint sound of an engine was heard over the wind. In the distance, a single headlight faded into view as a vehicle rapidly approached.
The snowmobile slid to a stop just in front of the curious travelers. The man stood down from the vehicle, approached the group, and removed his goggles.
"My friends!" said Curtis with a smile.
Everyone sighed. No one wanted to see Curtis, especially not so close to the Holidays. KC had shared with the rest of FE what had happened back at Paul's Manor last October. His stories chilled the group to the core.
"What are we doing here dick." Russ said as he adjusted one of his silicone elf ears.
"The thirteen of you are gonna go on an adventure with me! Turn those frowns upside down kiddies. After all, we're at the most beautiful place on Earth. Just LOOK at this place!"
...
"No." replied KC.
"You said thirteen of us. Who's the thirteenth..." Bryce asked
"Oh it's Ari." Curtis began. "He should be joining us any minute."
With that, a hatch door lifted up from the snow underneath Paco, knocking him off his feet.
"Sorry I'm late guys :P " Ari said as he stepped out of his cozy snow home and joined the group.
"Follow me all. No time to explain I'm afraid! All will make sense when we reach our destination." Curtis said.
"What IS our destination?" Boc asked.
Curtis turned around to face the group as he lowered his goggles once more. "Santa's village!" he replied with a smile. "FOLLOW ME!"
The snowmobile sped off and vanished into the whiteness, leaving the other thirteen behind. Everyone looked at each other and shrugged.
"Wtf?" Perry added.
About two minutes later, the snowmobile faded back into view. Curtis was going in reverse, stopping next to the group yet again.
"Sorry. Forgot you guys were on foot (: . We're gonna have to find a way to get us all there..."
-20 minutes later-
The thirteen were tied together by rope and attached to the front of Curtis' snowmobile.
"MUSH!!" Curtis yelled. The thirteen travelers trudged through the deep snow, pulling Curtis and his ATV behind them up various hills.
"THIS FUCKING SUCKS" Samm yelled over the wind.
"FUCK YOU CURTIS." Added Nofo, who was next to Samm and attached to him at the hip. I mean with rope. Not metaphorically.
"C'mon we're almost there!" Curtis yelled out.
The group continued, eventually stopping at the top of an extremely large hill. Curtis jumped off of his comfy seat and patted his thirteen new sled dogs on their heads.
"Here we are! :D . Welcome......to Santa's village!"
The group was not amused.
"I can't even.." said Jake with such despair.
"No!" said Curtis. "Down THERE."
Far in the distance at the bottom of the hill was the most fantastic place that any of them had ever seen. It was a warm, cozy looking town that appeared to be buzzing with life. In the town square, an enormous Christmas tree reached high into the sky and lit the entire area. The group stared out at it with amazement.
"What...is this place?" Patrick asked.
Curtis winked at the group. "Let me show you." he said. "BUT FIRST! Some business to attend to." Curtis clapped twice into the air as some sort of signal. A menacing looking figure approached from behind them. The figures shadow was cast over the group as it got nearer...
"Ho ho ho men!" Jeffrey the groundskeeper yelled out with glee.
"Everyone, you all know Jeffrey. He's been under my service for quite some time and will be assisting me whenever needed. Jeff, the bag please!"
Jeff had fallen asleep standing up. Curtis snapped into the air. "JEFFREY!". Jeff's eyes shot wide open as he lifted up a bag and tossed it to Curtis.
The bag was a deep, velvet red color. It had golden tassels and rope that shut it closed. Curtis pulled on one of the tassels, releasing the choke on the bag. He reached inside and pulled a few objects out.
"Who wants PRESENTS!"
The group screamed with glee, like they were kids on Christmas morning. They gathered around Curtis.
"Listen up. These presents are the most important thing you can have on our adventure. The more presents you have, the better. Understood?"
Everyone nodded.
"Good! I'm gonna hand out ten presents to each of you to kick things off. But first...we have something to take care of, I'm afraid. Before we enter Santa's village, we need to make sure that we're all on his Nice list. Anyone on his Naughty list will not be a friend of the village."
Curtis reached into the velvet bag and handed around thirteen scrolls and quills.
"Who's naughty and who's nice? That's up for you all to decide. Only then can we begin our adventure!"
