IT'S HALLOWEEN SEASON. What are your favorite horror movies? Anything you'd recommend? I wanna watch some new stuff this month

http://screencrush.com/netflix-instant-horror-movies/

I came across this list today. Good list. Let The Right One In is one of my favorite movies. I Saw The Devil is so great (Zersch that's another great cat/mouse movie for you)

The Signal and The Serpent and the Rainbow have me pretty interested. I've never seen or heard of either. I think I'll watch The Innkeepers tonight though. I like Ti West, and I thought The House of the Devil was really well made and creepy. This sounds like it'll be just as good or better. I AM EXCITE

Cabin in the woods is one of my favorites since it came out. But the main movie I watch every halloween is not even scary.....Hocus Pocus is something I must watch every Halloween.

Meant to mention I tracked Headhunters down. Haven't watched it, but I've got a copy.

I love horror movies, especially during October. One of my favorites to watch is the Tales from the Crypt movie Demon Knight. Really fun movie. This year I'm trying to get a hold of mostly new horror movies that I haven't seen that have gotten decent enough reviews instead of decking the halls with the classics.

Innkeepers is one of the movies I have put back. I really dug House of the Devil. Especially the scene with "One Thing Leads to Another" - was on the edge of my seat during the whole scene. I liked the "when is something going to happen" feeling in that movie, when it usually bores me.

Yeah the slow burn in House of the Devil was great. So much suspense. Apparently Inkeepers is very similar

Good movie. Ti West does a really great job with this genre. It's very different from most modern ghost/haunted house movies. It's not JUMP SCARE JUMP SCARE for 90 minutes. There's actually very few singular scares in this tbh, but it's worth it. It builds very slowly. I watched it alone in my basement in the dark and was creeped out by the end. If you're gonna watch this, that's the way to do it really

The characters were great too. They were really believable. The first 30ish minutes was all just getting to know them. Nothing scary happens in that time really. The whole movie is just building atmosphere and setting the tone

RECOMMENDED!

Gonna watch The Signal from this list now. Seems to have gotten pretty mixed reviews, but those who enjoyed it seemed to really enjoy it. Same case with The Innkeepers really. HOPE IT'S GOOD

Somehow I didn't notice that link the first time I read this.

You've more than likely seen it, but Slither is great. Troll Hunter was pretty cool, liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't really like the Host, but after a certain point I wasn't paying it full attention. The "classics" on the list go without need of comment.

Seeing your 'review' on Innkepers earlier and now seeing it at number one on this list makes me excite.

Yeah I loved Slither and Troll Hunter. Both were really good

You should definitely watch Innkeepers. It's not at all for everyone but I really enjoyed it. Curious to see what you'd think

The Signal was also surprisingly good. I remember scrolling by it on Netflix dozens of times and shrugging it off because of how shitty the poster looked. It's definitely a hidden gem. Pretty unique movie

It's shot in three parts by three different directors which usually turns out shit, but it was good here. The tone definitely changed but in a fun way. The second act got really funny really fast while staying super violent. Some good horror comedy stuff, but the tone shift to comedy FIT with the plot since everyone's brains were scrambled by that point in the movie, so it worked

Definitely worth a watch

Sad to see that this topic didn't get more posts. I think most people know I love horror movies as well. Every October I try to fill the month with movies I haven't seen yet but my list of personal favorites would just read like a broken record of all the typical classics everybody loves. Right now my dorm room is adorned with my horror movie posters for the month of October: The Thing, Trick 'r Treat, Shaun of the Dead, The Exorcist, An American Werewolf in London.

Definitely, it's a tradition that I have to watch it every year. And I just so happened to have watched it every since it came out. It's a crime that it was released straight to DVD.
