Feel free to do (example) five movies released this year or five movies that you watched this year regardless of when they came out. Whatever you’d like. I don’t make the rules!

Top 5 movies prior to 2022:
1. Mass
2. Pig
3. Licorice Pizza
4. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
5. Ghostwatch
Surprisingly few options! Almost all of my non-2022 movies this year were either for 39 horror, 2021 catch-up, or rewatched. I had almost no catch up movies from previous years at all. Slacking!

I looked quickly at a list of movies that were released in 2022. I didn't expect to have seen many of them, but surely there'd be more than one. lol I will have to check other sources. But so far, there is only one.

Top 5 movies
1. The Batman
2. Bullet Train
3. Top Gun: Maverick
4. See How They Run
5. Lightyear
I did not see a lot of movies last year that came out in 2022. Everything Everywhere All at Once is most probably gonna be #1 for me, I just haven't watched it yet. The Batman, Bullet Train, and Top Gun: Maverick were amazing. The other two are the best of what I could remember.

Books!
In no order:
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
Poirot Loses a Client by Agatha Christie
Curtain by Agatha Christie
Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie
Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie
Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie
Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie
The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie
Easy to Kill by Agatha Christie
There were more but I'm not sure if I'd read them in 2021 or not.
I loved "To Your Scattered Bodies Go" by Philip José Farmer, so I read the sequels to it last year. The first sequel The Fabulous Riverboat was okay. The next two were boring to atrocious to yeah. I struggled through three and four and dipped out after the story got wrapped up and never read the tacked on last one. I wouldn't recommend reading past the first book, tbh, especially if you think it's a great book.
I read The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers. Thought it was pretty good. And another one called Charlie Chan Carries On.
For 2023, I've got the first five Nero Wolfe Rex Stout mystery books, and a bunch (8 or 9) of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple books on my shelf. I'm thinking of getting some sci-fi books, too. The one's I'm considering are Tales of the Dying Earth by Jack Vance, Hothouse by Brian W. Aldiss, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin, and Blindsight by Peter Watts. Not sure if I'll get to them, though. I still have two Star Trek DS9 pocket books that have been on my shelf for a year. |
