Out of curiosity, which social network sites do you all use regularly? And which do you prefer? Select all options that you use semi-regularly. I think I covered all the major ones in the poll

I know people are :pissed: towards Facebook at times but I never really have much of a problem with what Facebook is doing. I don't use mine quite as much as I used to but I still check every day really. I find it helpful in a lot of instances to stay in touch with people

Tumblr's my favorite, but I don't use that nearly as much as I used to either. I used to be all about it. This past year though my activity with it took a huge dip for some reason

Twitter I've always been meh towards tbh

I only use tumblr for following interesting movie related things. Facebook I use very actively and theres a group I post on there every day with some very good online friends.

My problem with Facebook and other major player social networking sites is that it's kind of like Walmart coming to town. It makes web developers lazy and it sub-divides the internet into just the big sites (Google, Facebook, Twitter) etc.

If Facebook was a stand-alone site you could take or leave I'd be fine with it. I have issues with some of the privacy settings and options on there amongst other things but hey, if people didn't want to use it they wouldn't have to.

Unfortunately so many websites are now linking into Facebook and Google that it's reaching a point where you'll be locked out of access if you don't have a Facebook account. I've been turned away from a couple of sites because I refuse to login using my facebook account or sync things up.

Google have repeatedly stated that they want all sites to be linked together under a single login, a notion which is horrifying with regards to privacy and surveillance. It's this side of it I want no part of. I can take or leave social network sites in general. I use Twitter to post NDim updates and I use Facebook to contact people (but very, very rarely these days). I have a friend in Australia at the moment and I messaged him on there the other day which is much more convenient and cheaper than other forms of communication.

Even so, it worries me that smaller independent sites are stifled by these giants because if Google does get its wish, you can look forward to having your every move logged and broadcast (it largely is already, see PRISM).

As a web developer, it's pretty concerning for me that Facebook is so big. Companies don't need to create or maintain their own websites anymore because they can start a Facebook page to keep people updated. Most professional businesses still do, but I can see them getting lazier and lazier down the road. Why pay somebody to make a site when Facebook does it for you? The problem with this is that it means Facebook essentially controls such a vast portion of the web that it's pretty horrifying. I'm not sure I want all of my information in one place.

I'm going to sound like a bitter old man in this post but I don't really care.

I despise Facebook. I've tried it a handful of times and always end up deleting it. It makes me hate the people I know so much.

Tumblr needs to be wiped off the planet as do the people on there who think they know how to make gifs. Let's take a perfectly good gif, take off a few frames, add annoying filters and put in text that doesn't even match the mouth of the person in it. Jolly idea!

I can't stand the bulk of Twitter but it's okay for following celebrities and shit. Following friends on there is out of the question.

Not to sound like an obnoxious hiptser or something but I actually had a Myspace before it was cool. Never really thought much of it, mostly posted surveys and shit, only really had online friends on there since nobody had it back then. Then suddenly people at school wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. Once everyone from there clogged up the system, I deleted mine.

Someone tried to get me to do a LJ once, I abandoned it after a day. Can't really say much about it, blogging ain't really my thing.

Anyway yeah, fuck social media :D

I just hope people will be sick of Facebook and move on to other things. Remember MySpace? :3

Mostly just tumblr and I occasionally check twitter via mobile... very rarely Facebook.

That said my tumblr is almost completely homestuck so I don't think it'd interest anyone (:

Use Facebook and twitter. Don't really post a lot but I'll check to see what people are up to.

The moment family members started stalking and demanding being friends with me is when I put the major breaks on my facebook. II don't use that shit for people I know IRL c'mon guys.
