I care even less than usual this year, I just don’t have any heavy favorites in Best Picture or any acting categories
Still have a handful to watch though

Best Picture
Belfast
CODA
Don't Look Up
Drive My Car
Dune
King Richard
Licorice Pizza
Nightmare Alley
The Power of the Dog
West Side Story
I know Don't Look Up, it looks kind of silly. Surprised it's here, probably mostly due to the cast? I have no idea.
I have only seen West Side Story, but the 1961 version. I actually just watched it the other night. It's one of my favourites.

Very happy that Kristen Stewart got nominated for Best Actress. Still haven't seen Spencer yet though.
Biggest disappointment was Tick, Tick... Boom! not getting nominated for Best Picture. Terrible snub. I loved it. My favorite by far of the few I've seen lol.
Biggest wtf was Denis Villenueve not being nominated for Best Director for Dune. That makes no sense. It got 10 other Oscar nominations and is second behind The Power of the Dog (which I didn't jump out of my seat for).
I really want to see Drive My Car though which got in for Best Picture and Best Director. It looks like a movie I would love.
There's so many I've not taken the time to see yet. The main ones I want to see are Drive My Car, Belfast, King Richard, West Side Story, and The Tragedy of Macbeth.
I love me some Benedict Cumberbatch but I'm hoping for an upset there. Give Andrew Garfield that Oscar! I just came away from The Power of the Dog not really a fan. Was expecting more, I guess, from all the buzz. |

Don't Look Up being nominated over tick, tick... Boom! is a joke though. No cap. |

The academy loves Adam McKay for whatever reason
Denis being snubbed for director is pretty baffling, especially over Branagh lol. That’s wild. Belfast is so..whatever

And no production design for French Dispatch is a weird one

yeah even though I've seen a good chunk of these, I just don't care this year (which tbf has been the case for a while with the exception of the Parasite moment)
Don't Look Up is way overpraised unsurprisingly. Last Duel isn't the only snub but definitely the most surprising considering the pedigree behind it. Should've at LEAST been a nom for Jodie Comer there, but deserved a BP nom as well

this does make me wanna see Drive My Car even more despite its daunting runtime. Kinda funny how they spoil the Best Foreign Film winner whenever one bleeds over into the BP noms
