Also while people were waiting for results, I posted
With the link going to the Room of Requirement. I almost changed my slack name and picture to Host Cedric to do that but I'm not sure if that's allowed.
Anyway, Pomfrey clicked through to the forum so I know she got tipped off about that by Angelina/Snape/Lily.
Tomorrow I'm going to send the same link to Fred under a different context and see if it works for him. If it doesn't, I will buy that he's not on the inside of the main group. (He's telling me that now as he apologizes for the vote). | |

I'm impressed by how good that impromptu room of requirement plan was. I really hope Pomfrey is wondering how I found out about it and questioning Angelina/Lily a bit.
I'm smart enough to know that the path back from being isolated this early in merge is to lay low and have a quietly powerful social game that will let me survive a few weeks and position myself as a useful swing vote when the other side turns on itself.
But it's a bit of a joke to think a fish with an idol can really pull that off at this point. I can definitely hope that fred wants to keep me in case of emergency and eventually use me to make a move. But I don't have the relationships with the others by virtue of not being on a tribe with anyone except Amos for an extended period of time. It's kind of believable that this large group formed out of a shared fear of a fish-newt alliance that Lockhart claimed existed because it's basically a group of all the people I know the least. And to be honest, my strengths aren't in playing under the radar - I'm much better and much more enthusiastic at tactically scrambling than being boringly patient.
I will work on my relationship with Pomfrey and I guess Lily and angelina. Maybe lockhart. But I can do that while also going out of my way to make it very anxiety-inducing to target me and while having a bit of fun.
It helps that I think I should be the best overall challenge threat left and can probably rely on winning here and there to relieve some pressure. But majority rules is not a good place to start because I really don't know the dynamics of the big alliance yet.
Maybe maj rules will shake things up a bit within that group.
Priority today is definitely idol hunting. I revealed Whiskers' true purpose to Ron and Draco after the vote and we quickly snagged enough ingredients to each have enough to do the potion. But ron and Draco aren't endurance or speed posters and I'm strongly confident that neither of them will grab the idol before me (they may not even try). I'll use future chest searching to grab all the laceflies since Angelina claimed that was all she still needed earlier.
If I can get a second idol tonight I will strongly consider using one this tribal although it pains me to do so. If not, I'm not sure the best tactic for ensuring people think i will play it without actually playing it. It was pretty easy last round since Angelina thought i didn't suspect her and they were looking for an easy boot but it gets tougher here.
One other dynamic to consider is part 2 of my Instagram plan.
When I adopted Whiskers at the auction, I immediately took the chance to claim he revealed a mysterious Instagram link to me:

It has all sorts of interesting pictures and letters and patterns, all of which were uploaded in January shortly after I applied to this game. Obviously no one would be crazy enough to make an entire coded Instagram account for a game they hadn't even been cast in yet so there's no chance this one is a fake.
I made a point of sharing this with Angelina, so most of the cast probably knows about this and knows I was the first to find it. Angelina also seems at least somewhat obsessed with finding the answer which is very personally satisfying to me. Work on that instead of the slytherin idol girl!
There is an answer to this code that I'm going to pretend I was rewarded for posting, and at some point I will claim I won a prize which I will invent that conveniently makes people more scared to vote for me.

Since i got Whiskers, 11 chests have been searched in 3 days not including Draco Ron and I. That's not a great ratio - most likely less than half the cast is actually bothering.
The only thing found by someone who isn't us is 15 laceflies in hagrids hut #1. I'm hoping that didn't complete a set for anyone.
Overall I like these odds

Maxime is truly truly truly incompetent at this game.
She's still convinced that Angelina is 100% trustworthy after angelina blindsided her last week and it's for no apparent reason.
She came to me saying that based on her chats she was convinced that Angelina would want to vote fred off. I asked why and she shared with me the evidence.
Also Angelina asked me if I had found anything on the instagram page for the 100th time (Like I'd tell you!) and I told her i got a super idol. And Angelina went to maxime asking if it was true.
I should have told Maxime it was true tbh. Cause I'm certain maxime went back to say I was joking. But come on, I can't keep a straight face with something so absurd.

Well I'm really tired now, I know that polyjuice potion is supposed to be N.E.W.T. level but that felt even harder and more intensive.
I feel like I have a whole new sense of respect for the commitment of Barry Crouch Jr.
Which reminds me I have to eventually pretend I found mad-eye moody in a chest.
THIS IS A REALLY TOUGH DECISION
If Lockhart hadn't won immunity I would be holding on to both idols through this tribal for sure. If I can get to F10 with 2 idols I would guarantee making F8 and being the last person left from my group if we're pagonged. That's a good negotiating position to be in.
BUT
1) Lockhart won immunity so he can really aggressively push to force out my idol this round. He's not going to get idoled out here so he's got nothing to lose. And majority rules suggests he does play a big role in making strategy decisions on that side. Perhaps Angelina is worried I will idol her out here because he's immune and she may argue against him.
2) My "group" is just a complete catastrophe. The odds of us actually voting together are slim. So while in theory if the other side vote splits it will be 4-4-3 with their three votes being split wasted, I still fully expect a vote split to be put out there this round.
Ron is completely panicked and last round he just chucked a vote on Lily thinking it would make the alliance that Lily is in more eager to work with him. His go to panic strategy is to not vote with any group so he can try to look like a free agent.
Draco had to have been online at least a bit last night and he was on the board but he wasn't talking to us. He always tries to play both sides dating back pre merge and there's a reason he hasn't been targeted and likely won't be this round. They're gonna recruit him to vote for me so they can split 4-4
Maxime FULLY trusts Angelina and is looking for ways to involve Angelina in everything. I actually think Maxime might be more loyal to Angelina than me even after that vote and I don't think Angelina realizes it. Maxime is already asking me if I'm gonna use the idol and if I'm gonna vote against her or Ron or Draco to try and take advantage of a vote split to stay without using the idol. I bet she votes for Draco or Ron or me to try to save herself.
Going back and forth but just typing this has pushed me currently towards using the idol while trying to get the other side to split 4-3 with the 4 on me. And desperately hoping to unite the four of us.

This game is wild now, I can't help but love Lockhart for his recklessness. He's such good casting tbh.
Aaaaaand apparently he just gave up his individual immunity too. Wacky. Almost like he has a vacation planned or something.
Anyway I want to idol out Pomfrey to hopefully break up this bigger group. Maxime feels that fred has betrayed us and Angelina hasn't even though everything Maxime says to Angelina is immediately passed to fred who shares it with me. So she wants fred gone and that's the negotiation going on | |
