ROUND 1
THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME! Hello There, Harry Potter folk. It is I, Famous Amos Diggory, here to talk about all the festivities! SO besides being able to talk to everyone, the game actually started with the first challenge, revealing all the twists and the first "reward" challenge. I put that in quotes as the first challenge wasnt REALLY a reward. Yes you get immunity, but you have to pick tribes, and that can make or break your game. I thought all the scores were gonna be shown, and i wanted to put forth SOME sort of effort, so I posted 100 times. As I stated before, I'd rather not have that power this early, so I didn't go full speed.
Now besides THAT, there was the welcome post that introduced the twists about the idols. I looked at all the options and thought theeasiest one is the Gryfindor one obvi. I didn't want that target on my back either. The hufflepuff one will be hard to get into with cooperation, you need several people to work together to get close to the combination, and at that point, people will be suspcious of those invloved and people might know if you have it. The polyjuice potion one is very fun, very tedious, and I'm not quite sure of the instructions, but it sounds like there are many other powers available in those chests. Then we get to the fun idol. The ravenclaw Idol. I thought it would have something to do with a word filter, but I knew it would have some board searching, or something like that to get this idol.
After an hour passes by, I think to myself, I might as well look at the code behind this post. I see the message that says "post this phrase in your confessional to get an advantage" I post it, but at that point it was gone. I have no idea who has it, but I'm kicking myself for not figuring that out earlier. I tell 2 people about my findings, Gilderoy and Rita. Those 2 I really bonded with, and I felt that even THIS early I could trust them with this info. That advantage would've been nice, but in my snooping of that, I realized I should look at the posts, and new posts that the hosts make on the board for extra advantages and what not. It led me to find something special.
So before the 8 deadline rolled around, I was trying to crack the ravenclaw idol. I took the quote from Rowena Ravenclaw that Host Cedric posted:
"What you seek isn't far from the castle,
Hiding it distant would be too much of a hassle.
Does it need a password? A spell? Like my diadem it's lost?
Go back to a familiar land, if you begin to feel glossed."
My first thought was to look back on the board from Last season because the phrase "go back to a familiar land" stuck out to me. I really thought that was gonna help me get the idol, so I jumped on it. The first thing I see? this porfile page http://www.ndimforums.com/survivorhogwarts/profile.asp?memberid=48 . A new member with the title Ravenclaw Idol. I see the signature and think that MUST be a clue. Again I tell both Gilderoy and Rita about this info, to get some help from them I guess haha. So the clue I think I see is "Which came first? The pheonix or the flame?" . The first thing I think of is that its refering to the 4th and 5th movies, the goblet of fire(flame) and the order of the phoenix(pheonix). Gilderoy thinks it has something to do with Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix. Rita doesn't really know what to make of it. Going down my train of thought, I think it has to be a word filter about the 4th movie. But then Rita has an idea, to google the phrase. I did and up came a kuna lovegood quote about the beginning of the circle doesn't exist or something. I post a bunch of word filters and quotes in my confessional relating to that hoping to get some sort of hint or SOMETHING about an idol. But then... nothing. I run out of steam, and the tribes are about to be announced. I've given up on the idol hunt for now, will look again later.
We then go into tribe reveal, I wanted to make sure I didn't win, and sure enough, I don't. Olympe and Ron are the winners, 2 people I didn't talk to lol. Kinda my worst nightmare. When Ron goes missing, Pomfrey takes charge and the tribes are drafted. I see my wirst nightmare AGAIN. I'm seperated from my true love, Rita, and my mentor Gilderoy. THE TWO PEOPLE I'VE SHARED ALL THIS INFO WITH. Rita wanted to work on the Hufflepuff Idol with me as well, just another thing to build trust. I was happy to see Lilly on my tribe. I had gotten a good vibe from her originally, and I look forward to building on that. The others I'm a little uncertain on, but I'm sure I can be amicable with them until a swap happens. I can't imagine there not being a swap in this game, so I will just have to tough it out until then! I will give a full assessment when the time comes, and I feel I have enough to write about each person!
Anyways, the first thing after our tribes are made, I go to the tribe forum, Not the challenge. I do my ritual of quoting the thread to check for any clues or advantages, and see "font=To claim the Ravenclaw idol, post the answer to the following cryptogram in your confessional https://i.imgur.com/ytAqApo.jpg]". I FREAK OUT. I realize I was totally wrong about the clues, but I scramble to do the cryptogram, and do it relatively fast and post the phrase in my confessional. AND I GET THE IDOL. ON DAY 1 LIKE 6 MINUTES INTO GETTING MY NEW TRIBE. The rest of the tribe was talking about the challenge, and I don't think ANYONE saw me glancing at the code for it. These kinds of idols are the best. The ones that no one knows about. I think I'll just keep this bad boy to myself, and not tell anyone, not even Rita. I can't stop smiling though, I EARNED this Idol by myself, no help from other people. I'm just overjoyed at this development. Maybe I'll get a crack at the other idols, but its good to know that I've got one ALL TO MYSELF.
We are having a tribe bonding Movie Night, and maybe the challenge after, but I think I'm gonna like this tribe. They seem like a good group of people, I just have to really dig deep to find fun things about each person!
