Some opening day/night thoughts:
Vecher (blue tribe)--
This is definitely the tribe I'm rooting for right now. So many fun characters--there's not a single one of em I want to see go at this point.
Anders really stands out in this group, thought not necessarily in the greatest way imaginable. He's hit the ground running, making some solid connections, but at the same time it seems like he's over-thinking things and bordering on over-playing too soon. Being ranked #1 on your tribe--literally being thrust into the spotlight--right away is not ideal, and I'm sure he recognizes that. But I think it's early enough that he can hopefully take a step back and be a bit more low-key the next few days.
I've been very impressed with the positive reviews people are having for Billy. Seems like he's really nailed first-impressions as well as anyone in the game, while also not coming across as threatening.
I hope someone tries to take Julia under his or her wing on this tribe. Not that I think it's a great move, as Julia is here to cause chaos and use the halting hex or something, but (1) Julia is entertaining and (2) Ya, well, I guess she's just really dang entertaining.
Non-popular opinion, but Mike is still my favorite on this tribe, going back to the interviews and whatnot. (I hate that him and Julia are perceived to be on the bottom of this group.) Mike just seemed really genuine, and I think he'd be a great ally for a lot of people. Here's to hoping Vecher can win a challenge or two and buy Julia and Mike a few more days to ingratiate themselves.
Utren (purple tribe)--
I don't know if it's just anxiousness or excitement to start the game, but it seems like purple has a lot of people playing wicked hard right out of the gate. Watching some of these confessionals you'd think the game has been going on for a week or two already.
I think a lot of people pre-season had these concerns for Kilby...he definitely gets the game and has all the ability in the world to do well, but he just needs to slow down and let the game come to him. Now he's in a similar position to Anders on the blue tribe, being ranked #1. For good and bad, Kilby is on a lot of people's early radars--he needs to calm down or he won't last long.
Jacob's been a lot of fun to watch play so far--I love his enthusiasm for the game. Again though, he seems to be trying to sprint through a whole marathon. I hope once he finds who he really wants to work with and solidifies the alliance he wants that he'll be able to relax and feel more comfortable.
I'm so so shocked that Jenn hasn't made a better early impression with people. Jacob (and I think Joey too) is already taking about getting rid of Jenn first. I almost feel like they're crafting this narrative in their heads about how Jenn is some sketchy player that needs to leave immediately. Like what? Jenn was wicked loyal and not sketchy whatsoever in Conquest 9...but I think with time she'll find her footing, b/c she is that good socially.
Overall this tribe--from confessionals--seems to be playing soooooo hard, and I'm afraid that a lot of the big-strategic players could end up gunning for each other before long. There will be no such thing as an easy tribal with this group.

I am here for the DJS alliance
I'm kinda sad though that Jacob doesn't initially trust it.
I think both Jacob and Anders are feeling pressure to succeed and be star players this season, but both of them need to take a step back and relax a bit if they want that to happen.
Jenn is surprisingly a possible target, but I think there's a chance Kilby will extend the additional immunity to her because he doesn't want her to go. Jenn isn't making the strongest and most widespread bonds with people but I think she's making connections with the right people.

[5/8/18, 12:48:28 AM] Dan Kilby: right now I think I'm going to give my thing to jenn - people want to vote her out.
[5/8/18, 12:54:15 AM] Sam Loveridge: interesting
[5/8/18, 12:54:16 AM] Sam Loveridge: why’s that
[5/8/18, 12:54:21 AM] Sam Loveridge: the vote out thing, obvi
[5/8/18, 12:54:31 AM] Dan Kilby: She sketched people out apparently.
[5/8/18, 12:54:53 AM] Dan Kilby: I like her a ton. I don't mind that she's a winner. People don't like that she wasn't open about that, types a lot in calls and is quiey
[5/8/18, 12:55:04 AM] Dan Kilby: I called her for 1 hour today and she's really cool |
interesting convo with kilby

I would basically be dead weight, but I'll "You, Me, and Dupree" it up in the prod board if you need it.
Edit: I never left prod, I was kicked. |

As someone who's rooting for Jenn (and has her on my fantasy squad), I'm happy that Kilby wants to give her immunity this round...But I'm not sure it makes sense for his game, to give immunity to the very person that his allies have suggested they want out. I can see the move really alienating him from the DJS alliance...but we'll see.

i was thinking this too. It doesn't make a lot of sense unless he explained it as an "i don't want to reveal who i'm close to" kinda thing.

VECHER:
Not shocked Kurtis does not like Julia. Could see that a mile away. Looks like Andres, Adrianne, Rob are in the best positions in the tribe for being the most likeable. I see Kurtis Julia Michael Jay and Alex pretty low on some people rankings so if they go to tribal maybe that narrows it down. I feel like I can't even remember the names of all the people on this tribe like who the fuck is alex? michael? idkthem. Andres has a fantastic confessional. He is very very game savvy. Him being ranked number one even proves that he is a great social player. Just because, i feel like he will be in the power position going into the next vote I can see a Michael or Julia boot.
Utren:
Serana is literally the star for me on this tribe. I love that Daniel is thinking about saving Jenn with the immunity. I just feel like thats playing so hard though. Just going against the grain right now and even with your alliance with Jacob. But, clearly he is in one of the best positions in this tribe. Killme will definitely will be a huge factor in how the vote will go. I feel like if this tribe went to tribal it would be between Jenn, Reed, and Andrew. Maybe even throw Tony in there just based on their rankings

Jacob is fucking crazy his confessional has me rolling. What a great and entertaining player. So interesting how he does not like the DJS alliance at all.

i love how Jacob is constantly talking in his confessional about how you have to relate to people socially and you can't just be a gamebot, but is working with Kilby, who said in his confessional "I think the social game is bullshit"
