Also, its interesting from Adrienne's confessional that people are already thinking about the merge. Her mindset is that with this twist, there's no way there's a swap so it makes these challenges extra important to make sure they have numbers in a merge situation. Smart thinking but also waaaaay to advanced thinking at this point I feel. |
i don't think her brain has ever stopped moving - overthinking is in her DNA

THOUGHTS GOING INTO EPISODE 2
First, I'm definitely bummed to have seen Reed quit. As someone who only got to play this wonderful game because someone realized pre-season they would be unable to play, it definitely hits home and I can relate to the people who almost had this spot in the cast. BUT it's something that can't always be predicted until the game begins, and I'm glad it was the first round and not after other players had been voted out.
OK now some thoughts on the tribes. I'll try to cover everyone.
Vecher TRIBE
|
BILLY
I think Billy is cementing himself well into the tribe. Adrianne has been talking about having him as a potential ally, and I don't think there's anyone who really has their sights set on taking him out anytime soon. He's taken a bit of a backseat in the tribe which allows for the bigger, more vocal targets to duke it out and try to survive.
KURTIS
Kurtis is definitely painting a bit of a bulls-eye on himself just because he has been going up to people who are nervous about having certain secrets of theirs brought up and letting them know he knows those secrets (i.e. Adrianne wants to downplay her relationship with Blake, he talks about their relationship; Michael has hesitations being recognized in case it links to him being a returnee, Kurtis recognizes him). I think his logic is to use this as a way to bond but it might have the opposite effect. We'll see though, Kurtis hasn't been portraying himself as a big player so he could get through this.
JULIA
I really hope everything in her personal life is alright and everything ends up being okay. She has such amazing potential in this game. She has been such an incredible source of entertainment so far and that's just the first round! I think her tribe does find her crazy and she has rubbed some people the wrong way so I think it's likely she would be an easy target if Vecher were to lose unfortunately.
ALEX
Alex is someone else I could see being targeted in the coming rounds, especially by someone like Adrianne. I don't really understand it? Long-term it's a smart move to separate Alex and Sarena but neither tribe knows that. Watching him, Kurtis and Michael do the cube challenge he had begun to kind of take control of the challenge for a little bit, which I think could've reflected bad onto him had they not managed to absolutely kill it out of the blue. I think Kurtis for sure (and maybe Michael too) recognized that if they were to lose because Alex took the reigns, it keeps him as a target over them potentially.
ADRIANNE
Adrianne has herself in a good spot and I'm not surprised, she's got excellent social skills and she's allowed for other people to build targets on themselves. I applaud her for stepping into the leader role last challenge despite having no desire to have that spot for herself.
ANDERS
I think Anders has built a sizeable target on himself despite his best intentions. I am super happy to see his enthusiasm for the game displayed so strongly though, I am rooting for him to pull this out and so well! In my opinion though, he needs to accept that he's going to be a big target and embrace it so he can set himself up for success. If he focuses too much on reducing his own target size I think he's going to end up blinding himself to any danger he is in. Accepting your own target lets you better prepare when someone takes a shot at you.
JAY
I could see Jay finding himself in danger in upcoming rounds. People perceive him as a quieter figure, which definitely can come across as shady. I don't think he'd be one to get the boot right away, but I also think he needs to step it up if he wants to get to the merge.
MICHAEL
I'm glad he's officially made it farther in this game than he did in season 1! First boot again would be a hard pill to swallow for anyone. Honestly though I think Michael is doing really well! He's social enough to not draw suspicion but he stands back enough to keep himself out of the spotlight and without the targets that others have acquired. I've got high hopes for him.
DUSTIN
Dustin is someone who I think naturally has a sociability about him that really works for his game. People recognize that he is a big character in the tribe, but I think instead of being perceived as a threatening person he's more seen as someone who could be a number and a shield. He's playing really well so far.
ROB
Rob is also doing pretty well in his tribe! Adrianne said it best in her confessional about how he comes across as someone who the younger members of the tribe feel are better able to close the age gap with, being able to relate to the love of Pokémon and RPDR. I think he's in a position to relate to the younger people like Dustin and Adrianne while also being able to relate to the older players, and this could carry him far.
|
Utren TRIBE
|
SARENA
Sarena is the kind of person that I'd want to align with in a game. She comes across very cool, calm and collected, and she's a fairly well-liked member of her tribe. I think the only real potential wrench in her plan is her trust in Kilby, but that could be said for like half of the tribe at this point. She's also been very entertaining to watch.
KILBY
Kilby is playing with fire right now! He's got the DJS alliance with Sarena and Jacob, who trust him. He's got an alliance with Jayden, who trusts him. He's cemented trust with Jenn by telling her Jacob wants her out, so Jenn trusts him. He's also throwing Sarena out there to Jayden. Harrison seems to be hot on his trail, so I think it's only going to be a matter of time before notes get compared and Kilby is caught in the center of it all. He is super entertaining though and I think his messiness has brought lot to this game already.
JAYDEN
I think right now Jayden has the protection from Kilby and the existence of other targets, but I think he needs to solidify more things with other players in this game to really cinch some protection in this game. He isn't number one on people's radars at all though, so maybe I'm very wrong and he's got into everyone's good books.
JACOB
Jacob, like Anders, has definitely developed a sizeable target. I think Jacob is embracing it more than Anders, and I think he has Sarena and Harrison as well-established allies. His downfall might come from Kilby who already seems to be setting a Jacob vote up despite Jacob being aligned with him. I think his success will really come down to whether he decides he'd rather work with Harrison or Kilby. I am super happy with the way he's been playing otherwise.
TONY
Tony is one of the quiet people on the tribe, but he comes across as very unthreatening. I'm pleasantly surprised, and think that he could do really well if he plays this strategy properly. He's gonna need to be careful though and bank on challenge success, because he's gonna need some shields to help get him to the merge.
JENN
Jenn has a target on her right off the bat from Jacob. I understand where her target comes from, I think she comes across as someone who just sits and takes in information without revealing much, and obviously that's someone to be mindful of. Kilby I think is doing a good job of reeling her in and getting her to trust in him, which could reduce the likelihood that she'll be running to compare notes with others. I also think she could be Kilby's downfall. If any of Kilby's current allies were to be the one to initiate the suspicion, I see it being Jenn.
JOEY
Joey has faded well into the background on this tribe. I think currently he is fortunate that the people with big targets are likely going to be duking it out if they lose, but I think he's going to need to play smart with the next couple of votes if he wants to keep this strategy up. He's not new to this game, so I think we're watching the set-up to a slow-burning game that could get him far.
HARRISON
Harrison has himself in a pretty decent spot as well I think, and if he truly has started to catch on to Kilby's game he's more perceptive than most. He's got a lot of promise, and I think he'll become a very impressive player to watch as he gets more comfortable with the online format.

I got really behind in confessionals, so forgive me, these are more round 1 thoughts.
BLUE
this is how I see the breakdown of the relevance/pull on this tribe
DUSTIN-ANDERS
BILLY-ADRIANNE
KURTIS-ROB-ALEX-JAY
MICHAEL-JULIA
That being said this is not indicative of longevity in the game. I think Dustin is possibly in the best spot on his tribe, with solid social relationships, but isn't as visible as anders, from what I recall, who seems to be playing quite hard. The third tier each have some crucial relationship that is holding them up, but aren't necessarily the most well connected. Adrianne and Billy I think is safe to say will go pretty far, sitting comfortably in the middle ground. This is all of course so early.
Everyone seems to be playing pretty hard out of the gate, with a lot of clear social threats. I have enjoyed how everyone is adapting to the ranking twist, especially Adrianne's insight, who I think is choosing wisely. I think Mike and Julia will be easy boots to keep the tribe together, but once that happens things could get interesting.

PURPLE
okay this tribe is harder to get a sense of given some people have provided very little content (Andrew, Harrison, Tony) and others have provided quite a bit (I'm too overwhelmed to try and watch all of kilby's confessionals) but basically I think all this hype around Jenn is really stupid. It's not that Jacob can't pull this move off without too much damage to relationships, its that he's showing his cards way too much this early on, and showing the way he thinks and strategizes. I think in general, Jacob articulates the meat shield strategy really well, but I don't think he's pulling it off. Like little does he know he was so close to getting immunity this round (his #1 fear) and he's going to have to really change up his gameplay if he wants to be less visible. Serena, Harrison, Jayden and Joey I believe are the people to watch on this tribe, with Kilby and Jacob likely having little shot at making it all the way, and Andrew and Tony missing out on some of the crucial early relationship building. Jenn is a wildcard for me, can she recover from all this early fuss? Not sure. She seems to be seen in a negative light by many players which is unfortunate. I hope to see Harrison make an effort at getting some more solid relationships, because I think he is a player that will be wildly underestimated, and positioning himself behind Jacob I think is a great call.

hello
I'm Reed and I want to be the winner of Survivor: Endure 6 - Penumbra. To get there, I need to outwit, outplay, and outlast ninteen other castaways. It's possible, but it will take hard work and determination to get this shit done. |

Joey! Way to pick up on Dan/Jenn and what an obvious yet effective way to try to pry your way in. Really enjoying Joey as a strategist, he's observant and collected yet he has his faults.
WAIT I JUST WATCHED HIS SECOND CONFESSIONAL FOR ROUND 2.
#1 Dan Kilby you are being MESSSY BOYYYY
#2 If this alliance gets made that Joey/Kilby discussed i'm ready for Harrison to report back to Jacob and for this all to blow tf up count me IN

So I’ve been with Dustin since he started until now. I’m biased but I’m pretty proud of him. I was very afraid he was going to be too extra for his tribe, but I feel like he’s finding himself in this game. I worry that he will get pigeonholed in his alliance (with Adrienne and Anders) and won’t reach out to other people on his tribe. I know he talks to Kurtis and Rob on the side, so I hope he continues to let those relationships grow.
I’m impressed with Anders as well. I know people see him as a huge social threat but realistically who is going to get the votes to get him out? I just don’t see it happening right now.

Updates from people's skype production chats:
Vecher
Anders, Adrianne, and Dustin have created a group. According to Anders, they will be targeting Michael. YIKES if that's true Michael is at risk of being an earlier boot than I thought he'd be.
Utren
Kilby has allegedly completely thrown Sarena and Jacob under the bus to Harrison after Jayden told Kilby that Harrison thought he was talking to everyone. Kilby wants to now make Harrison a ride or die. Can we get a cleanup to aisle Kilby because we seem to have a mess...

So that’s a 3rd person Kilby has wanted to make a ride or die, right?
I was a messy player during S4 but DK 2.0 might be outshining me!

Shit on Vecher is getting real messy real fast. I'm lowkey hoping they pull out a bunch of Gwale wins so that the tension just keeps building.
